Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati has urged members of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly to give priority to public welfare issues during the upcoming Assembly session. Ahead of the commencement of the session, she stressed the importance of meaningful debates, constructive participation, and adherence to parliamentary traditions to ensure that issues affecting the people receive adequate attention.
In her remarks, Mayawati expressed concern over the relatively short duration of legislative sessions, stating that limited sittings may reduce opportunities for detailed discussions on matters of public importance. She emphasized that the legislature plays a vital role in a democratic system by providing a platform for elected representatives to debate policies, review government decisions, and raise issues concerning citizens.
The BSP chief said that both the ruling party and the opposition have a shared responsibility to ensure the smooth functioning of the Assembly.
