Nationalist Congress Party Member of the Legislative Council Amol Mitkari has expressed dissatisfaction over the manner in which Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis acknowledged the development of the Missing Link infrastructure project. According to Mitkari, the Chief Minister did not mention the contribution of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar while speaking about the project, prompting criticism from the NCP leader.
Speaking on the issue, Mitkari said that Ajit Pawar played an important role in the planning and progress of the infrastructure initiative during his tenure in government. He argued that major public projects should recognise the contributions of all leaders and departments involved, regardless of political differences.
The controversy arose after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly credited himself and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for the progress of the Missing Link project. Mitkari maintained that the omission of Ajit Pawar's name did not accurately reflect the history of the project's development and execution.
The NCP leader said that acknowledging the work of all contributors would help maintain fairness and ensure that infrastructure achievements are viewed as collective efforts rather than individual accomplishments. He added that development projects are usually the result of long term planning involving multiple governments, departments and public officials.
Mitkari also suggested that the Missing Link project should be named after the late Ajit Pawar as a mark of respect for his contribution to Maharashtra's infrastructure development. His statement has generated political discussion, with leaders from different parties expressing varying views on the proposal.
The Missing Link project is regarded as one of Maharashtra's significant infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving road connectivity, reducing travel time and enhancing transportation efficiency.
