We have open and shut proof that vote chori (vote theft) is happening to benefit the BJP.” His comments come at a politically sensitive time, with multiple state elections approaching and national elections expected next year.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has levelled serious allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI), claiming that the constitutional body is facilitating electoral misconduct in favour of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at a recent event, Gandhi stated that the Congress party has irrefutable evidence indicating voter list manipulation and other irregularities that compromise the fairness of the electoral process.

In a bold assertion, Gandhi said, “We have an atom bomb against the Election Commission. We have open and shut proof that vote chori (vote theft) is happening to benefit the BJP.” His comments come at a politically sensitive time, with multiple state elections approaching and national elections expected next year.

According to Gandhi, the evidence collected by the Congress party includes documents, field reports, and testimonies related to alleged voter suppression, irregular voter list updates, and biased conduct by poll officials. While he did not publicly release the details during his speech, he promised that the party would make the information available through appropriate channels.

The Congress leader stressed that such actions by a constitutional body undermine the foundation of Indian democracy. “If the institutions responsible for conducting free and fair elections are compromised, then the voice of the people is at risk. We cannot allow this to continue unchecked,” he added.

Gandhi also indicated that the Congress party is preparing to escalate the issue by taking it to court and international forums if necessary. He appealed to civil society, political parties, and citizens to remain alert and demand transparency in the electoral process.

The Election Commission has not officially responded to the allegations at the time of this report. However, the Commission has previously defended its integrity and operational independence, stating that all procedures are carried out within the framework of the Constitution and established law.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders have dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s statements as politically motivated and baseless. A party spokesperson said, “Whenever Congress faces electoral defeat, they question the institutions. These are attempts to divert attention from their lack of public support.”

Political analysts note that these remarks by Rahul Gandhi may signal a more aggressive campaign strategy by the Congress party as it prepares for upcoming electoral battles. The issue is also likely to become a focal point in parliamentary debates and public discourse in the coming weeks.

Independent election observers and civil rights groups have urged both the ruling party and the opposition to maintain public trust in democratic processes. They have also called on the Election Commission to address concerns promptly and transparently to uphold its credibility.

As electoral competition intensifies, the integrity and impartiality of institutions like the Election Commission will remain under close scrutiny. With both political rhetoric and public expectations on the rise, this issue could have a significant impact on the tone and conduct of the next round of elections in India.
