Shiv Sena UBT leader and Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut has strongly dismissed reports suggesting a possible split within the party, asserting that attempts to weaken the organisation would not be successful. His remarks came during a press conference held in New Delhi, where he was joined by Lok Sabha MPs Anil Desai, Arvind Sawant and Rajabhau Waze.
The press conference was organised amid growing speculation about alleged efforts to persuade some Shiv Sena UBT Members of Parliament to switch political loyalties. Reports circulating in political circles had suggested that a strategy, referred to by some as "Operation Tiger," was being pursued to encourage defections from the party.
Addressing the media, Raut stated that such efforts would face significant resistance and maintained that the party remained united under the leadership of Uddhav Thackeray. He said that the Members of Parliament present at the press conference had been elected on the party's symbol and had received support from voters based on the leadership and vision of the organisation.
Raut further alleged that attempts were being made to influence elected representatives through political negotiations and incentives. He claimed that there had been efforts to persuade MPs to travel for political discussions, although these allegations were not independently verified. He argued that such developments reflected the intense political competition currently taking place in Maharashtra.
According to Raut, a meeting of party leaders and MPs was held recently with Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray. During the meeting, party representatives reportedly reaffirmed their loyalty to the organisation and expressed confidence in the party leadership. Raut said that party members had reiterated their commitment to continuing their political journey within Shiv Sena UBT.
He also warned that any elected representative choosing to leave the party would have to face public scrutiny and explain the decision to voters. Raut maintained that those who wished to pursue a different political path should do so openly and follow democratic principles.
The developments come against the backdrop of ongoing political realignments in Maharashtra, where party affiliations and leadership structures have undergone significant changes in recent years.
