Political tension has intensified in several areas of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district following the killing of a close aide of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. The incident has triggered strong political reactions and increased security measures across sensitive parts of the district.

According to police officials, the BJP functionary was reportedly shot dead by unidentified assailants in an incident that occurred earlier this week. Authorities stated that an investigation has been launched to identify those responsible and determine the motive behind the attack. Police teams have been deployed in the affected areas to prevent further disturbances and maintain law and order.

The killing has sparked protests by BJP supporters, who described the incident as a targeted political assassination. Party leaders demanded immediate action against the attackers and called for a transparent investigation into the case. Demonstrations were reported in several parts of the district, with party workers seeking stronger security arrangements for political activists.

Following the incident, West Bengal Police increased patrolling and deployed additional security personnel in North 24 Parganas. Officials appealed to the public not to spread rumors or inflammatory content on social media that could worsen tensions in the region. Authorities also stated that surveillance and monitoring activities have been intensified in sensitive localities.

The incident has once again highlighted the ongoing political rivalry between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the ruling All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal. Political confrontations and allegations of violence have frequently been reported in the state, especially during and after election periods.

BJP leaders accused members associated with the ruling party of involvement in the attack and claimed that political violence in the state has increased after the Assembly election results. They urged the administration to ensure justice and provide protection to party workers operating in politically sensitive areas.

However, leaders of the All India Trinamool Congress rejected the allegations and stated that the BJP was attempting to politicize the incident. TMC representatives called for a fair investigation and said the law should take its own course based on evidence gathered by police authorities.

Political analysts believe the latest violence could further deepen tensions between rival parties in West Bengal. Experts note that political competition in the state remains highly intense, with both major parties actively strengthening their organizational presence across districts.

Local residents expressed concern over the deteriorating atmosphere and appealed for peace and stability. Many people in affected areas said they were worried about safety and hoped authorities would quickly restore normalcy. Businesses and daily activities in some localities were reportedly affected due to increased police deployment and public protests.

Senior police officials confirmed that CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined as part of the investigation. Witness statements are also being recorded to identify suspects and understand the sequence of events leading to the attack.

Authorities stated that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible for the murder. Security arrangements are expected to remain in place until the situation fully stabilizes and peace is restored in the district.
