Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party President N Ramchander Rao has opposed the issuance of Permanent Residence Certificates without comprehensive verification, stating that proper scrutiny is essential to protect national security and maintain the integrity of official records.
Speaking on the issue, Rao said that authorities must ensure that every application for a Permanent Residence Certificate undergoes a detailed verification process before approval. According to him, issuing such documents without adequate checks could create administrative and security concerns, particularly if they are obtained by individuals who are not legally eligible.
Rao argued that official documents such as Permanent Residence Certificates carry significant legal and administrative value. During his remarks, Rao criticized the Congress and the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen, commonly known as AIMIM, alleging that their support for issuing Permanent Residence Certificates without sufficient safeguards could weaken the verification process. He maintained that any policy related to official documentation should prioritize transparency, accountability, and compliance with existing laws and regulations.
The Congress and AIMIM have not accepted the BJP's criticism and have their own positions on issues related to documentation and public welfare.
