YSR Congress Party Member of Parliament M Gurumoorthy has called for stronger measures to prevent examination malpractices by urging the Central Government to expand the scope of the Public Examinations Bill to include state-level recruitment examinations. Speaking during the discussion on the legislation in the Lok Sabha, the MP expressed concern over repeated incidents of question paper leaks and recruitment irregularities that have affected millions of students and job aspirants across the country.
Supporting the objectives of the Public Examinations Bill, Gurumoorthy said the proposed legislation is an important step towards ensuring transparency and fairness in the examination system. However, he argued that limiting the law to central examinations would leave a significant gap, as several recruitment tests conducted by state governments have also witnessed allegations of paper leaks and examination malpractice.
The YSRCP leader stated that state recruitment boards should also be brought under the legal framework of the Anti Paper Leak law to ensure uniform standards of accountability across India. According to him, students preparing for competitive examinations invest years of effort, and any compromise in the integrity of recruitment processes can have a serious impact on their careers and public confidence.
During his speech, Gurumoorthy referred to the Andhra Pradesh Mega DSC recruitment process and alleged that the examination was affected by irregularities. He claimed that concerns raised by candidates and stakeholders warrant an independent investigation to establish the facts. In this context, he demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation conduct a detailed inquiry into the recruitment process.
The MP also called for accountability from the authorities responsible for conducting recruitment examinations. He urged the government to take strict action wherever violations are found and emphasized the need to strengthen safeguards against examination fraud through better technology, stricter monitoring, and stronger legal provisions.
In addition, Gurumoorthy sought the resignation of the Education Minister over the alleged issues related to the Andhra Pradesh Mega DSC recruitment process. He said maintaining transparency and restoring the confidence of students should remain a priority for both the Central and State governments.
The Public Examinations Bill has been introduced with the objective of preventing unfair practices such as question paper leaks, impersonation, and organized examination fraud in public examinations. The proposed legislation aims to establish a stronger legal framework to protect the credibility of competitive examinations conducted across the country.
The debate in Parliament reflects growing concerns over examination integrity and highlights the demand from several public representatives for broader reforms that cover both central and state-level recruitment examinations. Whether the scope of the legislation will be expanded remains a policy decision to be taken by the government after parliamentary deliberations.
