The match not only highlights the strength of Afghanistan's bowling attack but also underscores their resilience and ability to compete against established cricketing nations.

On September 18, Afghanistan achieved a landmark victory by recording their first-ever win against South Africa in any format of international cricket. The match, held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE, saw Afghanistan dismissing South Africa for a modest 106 runs before successfully chasing down the target in just 26 overs, losing four wickets in the process.

Afghanistan's bowlers delivered a stellar performance, making life extremely difficult for the South African batsmen who chose to bat first. Left-arm pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi and 18-year-old off-spinner Allah Ghazanfar were particularly effective, dismantling the top seven South African batsmen with their disciplined and aggressive bowling. Farooqi's impressive spell saw him take the wickets of openers Reeza Hendricks and Tony de Zorzi, along with captain Aiden Markram and Wiaan Mulder. Ghazanfar also played a crucial role, dismissing Tristan Stubbs, Kyle Verreynne, and Jason Smith. Star spinner Rashid Khan supported the effort with 2/30 in 8.3 overs.

Despite a challenging start to their chase, where Afghanistan lost three wickets for just 38 runs in 13.4 overs, the team managed to stabilize and secure the win. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed for a duck by Lungi Ngidi, and Riaz Hassan was bowled out by Bjorn Fortuin. Rahmat Shah also fell to Fortuin, and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi was trapped lbw by Markram. However, despite these early setbacks, Afghanistan's middle order steadied the ship to successfully chase down the target.

This historic win marks a significant milestone for Afghan cricket and showcases their growing prowess on the international stage. The match not only highlights the strength of Afghanistan's bowling attack but also underscores their resilience and ability to compete against established cricketing nations.
