Alzarri Joseph has been suspended for two matches by Cricket West Indies (CWI) after his on-field confrontation with captain Shai Hope during the third ODI against England on November 6, 2024, in Barbados.

Alzarri Joseph has been suspended for two matches by Cricket West Indies (CWI) after his on-field confrontation with captain Shai Hope during the third ODI against England on November 6, 2024, in Barbados. The incident occurred during a tense moment in the match when Joseph and Hope disagreed over field placements while West Indies were bowling.

The disagreement escalated when Joseph, visibly frustrated with the field set by Hope during his second over, stormed off the field in protest. The two players engaged in a lengthy and heated argument, which prompted the umpires to intervene and urge them to resume play. Despite a wicket falling a few deliveries later, Joseph remained upset, and after the over ended, he left the field briefly, returning after a short break. During this time, West Indies were left with just 10 players on the field for at least one over, which raised concerns among the team management and officials.

Head coach Darren Sammy, who was seen trying to calm Joseph down, expressed his disappointment with the pacer's actions in the post-match press conference. Sammy stated that Joseph's behavior was unacceptable and did not align with the standards expected of the team.

In response to the incident, CWI issued a statement on Thursday (November 7), stating that Joseph’s conduct fell below their "standards of professionalism" and would not be tolerated. The suspension is a direct consequence of his disruptive actions during the match, and the West Indies cricket board made it clear that such behavior is not in line with the values and expectations of the team.

This suspension comes after West Indies secured an eight-wicket victory over England in the third ODI, which helped them clinch the three-match series. Despite the victory, Joseph’s behavior overshadowed the team’s achievement, leading to the disciplinary action. The West Indies will now move forward without Joseph for the next two ODIs, as they continue to build on their series win.

During this time, West Indies were left with just 10 players on the field for at least one over, which raised concerns among the team management and officials.
