With key players from Australia’s Test team preparing for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, the T20I squad features a mix of experienced and emerging talent, including all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, pacer Marcus Stoinis, and leg-spinner Adam Zampa.

Cooper Connolly has been ruled out of Australia's upcoming T20I series against Pakistan after suffering a fracture to his left hand during the third ODI on November 10. Connolly, the young all-rounder, took a blow to his hand while trying to pull a delivery from Pakistan’s Mohammad Hasnain in the 17th over. The injury occurred early in the over, and despite initial discomfort, Connolly continued playing briefly before realizing the extent of the pain. After a quick assessment from the physios, he left the field and was later taken for scans, which confirmed a fracture to his fourth metacarpal.

As a result, Connolly has been ruled out of the T20I series against Pakistan, which will see Australia take the field in a series without him. Cricket Australia confirmed the injury and announced Connolly’s absence from the T20I squad. Australia has yet to officially name a replacement, but reports indicate that wicketkeeper-batter Josh Philippe is expected to join the team in Connolly's place.

Philippe, who has previously represented Australia in 12 T20Is, brings solid T20 experience to the squad. Despite modest international numbers, with 150 runs from 12 T20Is at a strike rate of 109.48, Philippe has had a strong career in domestic T20 leagues. He has scored 2628 runs in 111 T20 innings at a strike rate of 133.67, proving his ability to perform in the shortest format. At 27 years old, Philippe’s versatility as both a wicketkeeper and top-order batsman makes him a valuable addition to Australia’s T20I squad.

The T20I squad for the series against Pakistan will be led by Josh Inglis, who made his debut as captain during the ODI series decider.
