The Board of Control for Cricket in India has officially announced the India Women squad for the upcoming one-off Test match against Australia, marking an important chapter in the team’s red-ball journey. The Test will be played at Perth Stadium from March 6 to March 9, 2026, and is expected to be a challenging contest against the hosts in their home conditions.

Harmanpreet Kaur has been appointed captain of the Indian side, continuing her leadership role in the longest format. Smriti Mandhana has been named vice-captain, further strengthening the leadership group with her experience and consistent performances at the international level. The squad features a balanced mix of experienced players and emerging talents, reflecting the selectors’ focus on long-term development.

A key highlight of the selection is the inclusion of Amanjot Kaur and Pratika Rawal, both of whom have earned their maiden Test call-ups. Their selection follows strong performances in domestic and limited-overs cricket, and they will be keen to make an impact on their Test debuts. Young left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma has also been included in the squad, earning her first opportunity in the longest format at the international level.

The batting lineup features established names such as Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harleen Deol, all of whom bring experience and adaptability to different conditions. Deepti Sharma adds depth with her all-round abilities, while Richa Ghosh and Uma Chetry provide wicketkeeping options, offering flexibility in team combinations.

India’s bowling attack is led by Renuka Singh Thakur, who will spearhead the pace unit alongside Sayali Satghare and Kranti Gaud. Spin options include Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana and Vaishnavi Sharma, giving the team multiple choices depending on pitch conditions in Perth.

Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of selection due to injury, with the selectors opting not to rush her return. The management has emphasized the importance of player fitness ahead of a demanding tour.

In addition to the senior team announcement, Radha Yadav has been named captain of the India A side for the upcoming Rising Stars Asia Cup. Her appointment reflects her leadership qualities and consistent performances, and the tournament is expected to play a key role in identifying future prospects for the national team.
