The ICC mandates that all participating teams in global tournaments, including the Champions Trophy, must follow its guidelines, which include the approval of playing and training kits, as well as the official tournament logos.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially clarified its stance regarding the use of the official logo for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which features Pakistan as the designated host nation. In response to mounting speculation and controversy surrounding the Indian cricket team's jersey and the inclusion of Pakistan’s imprint on the logo, the BCCI confirmed that it would fully comply with the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) guidelines for the prestigious tournament.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, in a statement to Cricbuzz, emphasized that the Indian team will adhere to all ICC directives, including those pertaining to the use of the Champions Trophy logo. When asked directly about the inclusion of Pakistan’s name on the logo, Saikia reiterated that the team would follow the ICC’s rules, stating, "We will follow whatever are the ICC guidelines." This remark was aimed at putting an end to the controversy and addressing concerns about how the Indian jersey would feature the Champions Trophy branding.

Scheduled to be held from February 19 to March 9, 2025, the Champions Trophy will be officially hosted by Pakistan. However, due to ongoing political and diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian cricket team will play all of its matches in Dubai, instead of traveling to Pakistan. The opening ceremony of the tournament, along with the inaugural match, is expected to be hosted in Karachi. However, it remains unclear whether Indian captain Rohit Sharma or any other team representatives will attend the opening ceremony in Pakistan.

The ICC mandates that all participating teams in global tournaments, including the Champions Trophy, must follow its guidelines, which include the approval of playing and training kits, as well as the official tournament logos. While the Champions Trophy is governed by the ICC, the situation contrasts with tournaments such as the Asia Cup, which is organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The 2023 Asia Cup, which was officially hosted by Pakistan, did not include Pakistan’s name on the tournament logo, deviating from the ICC’s norm.

The BCCI’s confirmation of its commitment to adhering to ICC guidelines emphasizes the governing body’s adherence to established protocol for international tournaments, even in the face of off-field political tensions. As the Champions Trophy approaches, all eyes will be on how cricket diplomacy unfolds, particularly between India and Pakistan, as the rivalry between the two nations extends onto the sporting field.

In the coming months, discussions surrounding the event are likely to continue, with stakeholders and fans eagerly watching for any developments regarding the participation and representation of the Indian team in a tournament hosted by Pakistan. The confirmation from the BCCI reinforces the importance of maintaining diplomatic decorum and following international sporting protocols, regardless of political issues.
