Cricket icon Brian Lara has joined the chorus of praise for India’s leading cricketers, singling out fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and captain Rohit Sharma for their outstanding contributions to the sport. In a recent interview, the former West Indies captain hailed Bumrah as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time and described Rohit Sharma as a true legend in world cricket.
Lara’s comments come in the wake of India’s consistent performances across formats, particularly during recent international tournaments and high-profile bilateral series. With Bumrah delivering match-winning spells and Rohit leading with calm authority, the Indian team has continued to dominate on the global stage.
Speaking about Jasprit Bumrah, Lara said that his ability to perform under pressure and adapt to different conditions sets him apart. “Bumrah is not only a consistent performer but also someone who delivers in the most crucial moments. His control, pace, and variations make him one of the toughest bowlers to face,” Lara remarked. He further stated that Bumrah’s bowling has reshaped how fast bowling is approached in limited-overs and Test cricket.
Lara also praised Bumrah’s discipline and work ethic, noting that the Indian pacer has become a key figure not just for India but in world cricket. According to Lara, Bumrah’s injury comeback and immediate impact demonstrate his mental toughness and elite skill level. “In my view, he is already among the greatest bowlers of the modern era,” he added.
Turning his attention to Rohit Sharma, Lara described him as a player who has matured into a complete leader. He praised Sharma’s batting style, composure at the crease, and ability to guide his team through high-pressure situations. “Rohit has a natural calmness, and he brings a sense of stability to the Indian dressing room. His captaincy, especially in ICC tournaments, has been outstanding,” Lara said.
Rohit Sharma, who has scored multiple double centuries in One Day Internationals and has played a key role in India’s top-order batting success, was also lauded for his strategic thinking on the field. Lara acknowledged that leading a team like India comes with immense expectations, but Rohit has managed the responsibility with grace and confidence.
Lara’s appreciation of both players reflects the growing international recognition of Indian cricket’s recent achievements. With senior players like Rohit setting the tone and stars like Bumrah delivering consistently, India continues to be a major force in world cricket.
Cricket fans and analysts have widely shared Lara’s remarks, with many agreeing that Bumrah and Rohit deserve high praise for their individual brilliance and contributions to India’s success.
