Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to further strengthen their bowling attack on Day 2 of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, which is taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After a successful opening day where the team focused on bolstering their top-order stability and gaining experience in the batting lineup, the franchise now looks to add depth to its bowling resources.

On the first day of the auction, DC made some significant acquisitions to address their batting needs. The team made headlines with the purchases of Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul and Australian pacer Mitchell Starc. Rahul was bought for a hefty Rs 14 crore, while Starc was secured for Rs 11.75 crore. Both players bring a wealth of experience and skill to the squad, with Rahul’s consistent IPL performances and Starc’s renowned pace attack being key assets for the team.

In addition to these marquee buys, DC also made some smart moves to strengthen their overall squad. Australian youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk was retained for Rs 9 crore using the Right to Match (RTM) card, showcasing the team’s belief in his potential. Englishman Harry Brook was picked up for Rs 6.25 crore, further enhancing the team’s middle order. Meanwhile, Indian players T Natarajan and Karun Nair were acquired for Rs 10.75 crore and Rs 50 lakh, respectively. These signings are expected to add both experience and firepower to the squad.

Delhi Capitals also bolstered their domestic roster with the acquisition of Sameer Rizvi for Rs 95 lakh and Ashutosh Sharma for Rs 3.80 crore. The team also brought in seasoned pacer Mohit Sharma for Rs 2.20 crore, adding depth to their bowling attack.

Speaking about the strategy behind the team’s buys, Parth Jindal, Co-owner of Delhi Capitals, explained that the focus on Day 1 was to find stability in the top order. “We were looking for someone with experience who can anchor the innings, and KL Rahul, given his track record in the IPL, was the perfect fit. He’s consistently scored over 400 runs every season, and his game will be well-suited to the Kotla pitch,” Jindal said.

He further emphasized the importance of having experienced players like Rahul in the team, adding, “Our batting lineup is relatively young, and both KL and Axar will play key roles in guiding the team. KL’s experience and batting will be vital for the young squad, and we’re excited to have him as part of our lineup.”

With a solid foundation laid for the batting department, Delhi Capitals now look to continue their focus on strengthening their bowling attack on Day 2, aiming for a balanced squad that can compete at the highest level in IPL 2025.

He further emphasized the importance of having experienced players like Rahul in the team, adding, “Our batting lineup is relatively young, and both KL and Axar will play key roles in guiding the team.
