The International Cricket Council has announced the sale of tickets for the semi finals and final of the T20 World Cup 2026, even though the venues for certain matches remain subject to qualification scenarios. Ticket sales opened at 7:00 PM IST on February 24, with fans able to book seats for the knockout stage despite uncertainty surrounding specific host cities.

According to the tournament schedule, the first semi final is set to be played on March 4. However, the venue for this match depends on which teams qualify. The match could take place either in Colombo or Kolkata. If Pakistan or Sri Lanka do not qualify for the semi final, Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the fixture. If either of those teams progress, the match will instead be played in Colombo.

Similarly, the final, scheduled after the semi final stage, is currently planned to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, if Pakistan qualify for the final, the summit clash will be shifted to the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This conditional arrangement has been made in accordance with tournament planning and logistical considerations.

The second semi final, scheduled for March 5, will be held in Mumbai regardless of qualification outcomes. As per the existing format, India will feature in this semi final if they qualify and are set to face either England or New Zealand based on group standings.

Given the venue uncertainty for the first semi final and final, the ICC has issued clarification regarding ticket validity. The governing body has stated that if a match is relocated due to qualification scenarios, tickets purchased for the affected fixture will remain valid under the revised venue arrangements, subject to official terms and conditions. Detailed information regarding possible refunds, exchanges or logistical procedures is expected to be communicated through official ICC channels.

The decision to begin ticket sales before confirming venues reflects the tight timeline ahead of the knockout stage. With only a week remaining before the semi finals, the ICC has moved forward to ensure adequate preparation time for fans planning to attend.

Such conditional hosting arrangements are not uncommon in multi nation tournaments, particularly when political, logistical or scheduling factors are involved. The ICC has emphasized that all updates regarding venue confirmations will be shared officially once the qualification picture becomes clear.

Fans are advised to follow official ICC announcements and check ticketing guidelines carefully before making travel plans. As the Super 8 stage concludes and the semi finalists are confirmed, final venue details for the affected matches will be formally declared.

The T20 World Cup 2026 has generated strong interest globally, and the knockout stage is expected to draw significant crowds regardless of host city. The ICC clarification aims to provide transparency and ensure smooth coordination for supporters planning to attend the marquee matches.
