Overall, the standings remain fluid with just a few matches remaining for some teams.

The ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 standings remain open after the first ODI of the three-match series between New Zealand and Australia was abandoned due to adverse weather conditions on December 19, 2024. The match, which was set to be played at the Cello Basin Reserve in Wellington, was called off without a ball being bowled, leaving both teams frustrated. The series is a critical part of the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship, as teams are vying for automatic qualification to the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, set to take place in India from September to October.

Australia, who have already qualified for the 2025 World Cup as the defending champions, currently lead the standings with 35 points from 22 matches. With two more games in the series against New Zealand, they will be looking to secure top spot in the Championship to maintain momentum leading into the World Cup. England, who are in second place with 32 points, have also secured their spot in the 2025 tournament, and are still fighting to stay at the top as they aim to defend their strong showing in previous cycles. India, sitting in third place, have qualified as hosts and trail Australia by 10 points but still have six matches left to play, including games against the West Indies and Ireland, who are at the bottom of the standings. India has a chance to close the gap and potentially overtake Australia for first place, depending on how their remaining matches unfold.

South Africa, currently in fourth place with 25 points, has also confirmed its spot in the 2025 World Cup, having shown consistent form throughout the cycle. However, the race for the final automatic qualification spots is far from decided, with Sri Lanka and New Zealand both in contention. Sri Lanka, in fifth place, has completed all their matches for this cycle, leaving them dependent on other results. New Zealand, in sixth place with 21 points, still has plenty to play for and will need to capitalize on their remaining fixtures to secure their place in the 2025 tournament. The White Ferns, who won the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, will look to continue their strong performances in the ODI format to ensure they qualify directly.

Pakistan, who are currently in eighth place, have also finished their fixtures and remain in the race for qualification via the Qualifier tournament. Bangladesh, in seventh place with 19 points, still has one final series against the West Indies to play, which could prove crucial in their bid to qualify. The bottom four teams in the standings will enter the Qualifier tournament, where they will compete for a chance to secure the final spots in the 2025 World Cup.

Overall, the standings remain fluid with just a few matches remaining for some teams. While Australia, England, India, and South Africa have secured their World Cup spots, the race for the remaining spots in the top six is still tight. With only the top six teams automatically qualifying for the 2025 World Cup, every match in the final stages of the ICC Women’s Championship will be critical, particularly for New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the West Indies.
