In an electrifying display of athleticism, Indian captain Rohit Sharma pulled off a breathtaking catch to dismiss Litton Das during the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The catch came as a highlight in an otherwise challenging session for Bangladesh, who found themselves struggling at 170 for 6 on Day 4 of the match.
Litton Das had just hit a well-timed shot off a delivery from fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, and it appeared destined for the boundary. However, Rohit, stationed at extra cover, demonstrated incredible reflexes and timing as he sprinted in, leapt into the air, and extended his right arm to snatch the ball from mid-air. This stunning catch not only dismissed Litton for a mere 13 runs but also showcased Rohit's unexpected agility, as he is not typically known for his acrobatic fielding.
The moment sparked wild celebrations among the Indian players. Rohit, clearly impressed with his own effort, ran joyfully around the field, while Shubman Gill, initially in disbelief with his head in his hands, quickly joined in the celebration. Teammates, including Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, rushed to congratulate their captain, and Virat Kohli was seen laughing and enjoying the moment. This camaraderie highlighted the team's spirit as they sought to maintain their momentum in the series.
Bangladesh's innings had already been shaky, with the team losing three wickets in the first session of the day. With Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravichandran Ashwin all claiming wickets, the visitors found it difficult to settle at the crease. As India leads the series 1-0 after their victory in the first match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, this catch by Rohit Sharma further solidifies India’s position in the match and boosts their confidence as they aim for another win against Bangladesh.
