Ramandeep Singh's stellar performance for India A in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup semifinal against Afghanistan A has earned him a well-deserved call-up to India’s senior T20I squad for the upcoming series against South Africa. The 27-year-old all-rounder demonstrated incredible resilience and power-hitting during a challenging chase, keeping India’s hopes alive despite an uphill battle.

During the semifinal match on October 25, India A found themselves in a tough spot at 100/5, chasing a massive 207-run target. Ramandeep entered the crease with determination, showcasing an aggressive approach that included precise shot selection and boundary-hitting ability. His 34-ball 64, laced with eight fours and two sixes, nearly pulled off a thrilling win. Together with Nishant Sindhu, he added 68 runs off just 31 balls for the sixth wicket, shifting momentum in India’s favor.

With India needing 30 runs off the final over, Ramandeep faced the pressure but continued to push hard, hitting two crucial fours. However, his heroic knock ended when he was caught on the last ball, handing Afghanistan a narrow 20-run victory and a spot in the Emerging Asia Cup final. Despite the loss, Ramandeep’s effort won the admiration of fans and selectors alike.

In addition to his batting, Ramandeep has also been effective with the ball throughout the tournament, claiming three wickets and proving himself as a valuable seam-bowling all-rounder. His standout moment in the field came when he took a sensational catch to dismiss Pakistan opener Yasir Khan, who had been leading a strong chase with three sixes and a four. Ramandeep’s catch was crucial in securing India A’s narrow seven-run victory over Pakistan.

His selection in the T20I squad comes at a time when India is focused on bolstering its all-rounder options for a demanding tour in South Africa. Ramandeep will be joined by his Punjab teammate Abhishek Sharma and India A captain Tilak Varma in the senior squad. These young players, having showcased their skills in the Emerging Asia Cup, are now poised to make an impact at the international level, signaling a promising future for Indian cricket.
