Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has strongly advocated for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to seize the opportunity to sign Rohit Sharma from the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 season. As Rohit prepares to depart from MI, Kaif believes that RCB should take decisive action to secure the talented batsman and former captain.

Rohit Sharma is reportedly set to leave the Mumbai Indians after a tumultuous period marked by a loss of captaincy and a notable fallout with the franchise’s management. Under the new leadership of Hardik Pandya, Rohit has openly discussed the changing dynamics within the team, which has contributed to MI's struggles, including their failure to qualify for the playoffs this season. With the BCCI mandating franchises to submit their retention lists by October 31, the likelihood of Rohit being excluded from MI's plans is increasing.

Kaif emphasized that Rohit must continue to play as a captain, expressing concern that his leadership role at MI has been compromised. He stated, “Rohit Sharma must play as a captain in the IPL. He has been such a huge player and will have multiple takers. Everybody knows franchises will be talking to him to play for them. Just like Hardik Pandya moved to Mumbai from Gujarat, Rohit Sharma can also leave, and he must leave [Mumbai Indians]. He deserves to play his final two to three years as a captain in the IPL.” Kaif believes that such a move would not only benefit Rohit but also enhance the competitive spirit of the league.

Kaif also highlighted Rohit’s exceptional leadership skills, which he feels are unmatched in the IPL. “The quality he possesses as a leader is very rare, and no one else has it in the IPL. Name any player who has won the IPL five times; even when he faced scrutiny during the T20 World Cup, he delivered by winning the trophy,” Kaif pointed out.

Moreover, Kaif sees RCB as the ideal destination for Rohit Sharma. He stressed that RCB must take this chance to sign him, as it could potentially lead to their long-awaited first IPL trophy. “RCB must take this chance; I am saying it with certainty. As a leader, Rohit Sharma knows how a player should hone his role. If he arrives, it will be great for RCB and their fans. The trophy drought they have experienced could come to an end with Rohit’s arrival,” Kaif concluded.

In summary, Kaif’s strong endorsement for RCB to pursue Rohit Sharma highlights not only the Indian captain's individual capabilities but also the strategic advantage his leadership could provide in revitalizing a franchise that has long yearned for success in the IPL.

As Rohit prepares to depart from MI, Kaif believes that RCB should take decisive action to secure the talented batsman and former captain.
