Rahul Dravid, who has been named the head coach of Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2025 season, is planning to bring several familiar faces from his time with the Indian national team into the Royals' setup, as reported by Cricbuzz.
One of the key additions expected is Vikram Rathour, the former batting coach of India. Rathour is likely to replace Trevor Penney, who might be moving to a new role with the Royals' Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team, the Barbados Royals. This transition suggests a significant shift in the coaching dynamics of the Rajasthan Royals under Dravid’s leadership.
Dravid, who previously served as the head coach for the Indian senior team and the U19 squad, will be reuniting with the franchise he was a part of from 2011 to 2015. His return is seen as a strategic move to revamp the team’s coaching structure and bring in experienced professionals to guide the Royals.
In addition to Rathour, Paras Mhambrey, the former bowling coach of India, is also on the radar for a coaching position at another IPL franchise. Mhambrey, like Rathour, has declined commentary offers to focus on coaching roles within the IPL, emphasizing their dedication to nurturing talent and contributing to the league’s competitive edge.
The reshuffling of the coaching staff at Rajasthan Royals signals a new direction for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. Dravid's appointment, coupled with the potential arrival of Rathour and Mhambrey, aims to strengthen the Royals' coaching setup and enhance their performance in the IPL.
