Mahipal Lomror made a bold statement in the domestic cricket arena, scoring an unbeaten 300 for Rajasthan in a Ranji Trophy match, placing IPL franchises on high alert just ahead of the 2025 IPL Mega Auction. On Thursday, November 14, Lomror’s phenomenal knock came off just 360 balls in an Elite Group B match against Uttarakhand in Dehradun. The left-handed batter, known for his explosive hitting, hammered 25 fours and 13 sixes, becoming only the second player from Rajasthan to reach a triple century in the prestigious tournament. Aakash Chopra was the first, with his 301* against Maharashtra in 2010, off 582 balls.
Currently the second-highest run-scorer in this Ranji season with 529 runs, the 24-year-old’s form couldn’t have come at a better time. His consistent performances have caught the attention of IPL franchises, especially with the Mega Auction approaching, set for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Lomror’s knock has led Rajasthan Royals, his former franchise where he debuted from 2018 to 2021, to publicly acknowledge his achievement with a tribute video featuring head coach Rahul Dravid interacting with him. This gesture signals potential interest from the Royals to bring him back, with his skills aligning well with their needs.
Released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Lomror will likely be one of the most discussed names for franchises considering Right to Match (RTM) cards in the auction. The Nagaur native has been used primarily as a finisher in the IPL but has showcased his ability to bat up the order when required, making him an asset for teams looking for versatility. Additionally, Lomror’s left-arm spin adds depth to his profile, allowing him to contribute as a part-time bowler.
As an uncapped all-rounder, Lomror’s value has surged with his recent performances, positioning him as a likely target for several franchises. With a powerful presence in the middle order and flexibility to bowl spin if needed, he’s expected to be one of the more contested players at the auction, where teams will look to bolster their lineups for the upcoming season.
