In an exclusive interview with MyKhel, veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha opened up about his current priorities and the path ahead after his much-anticipated return to Bengal's domestic cricket team. Saha, known for his calm demeanor and steadfast commitment to the game, emphasized that his primary focus at the moment is on contributing to Bengal's success, rather than contemplating his future in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Reflecting on his homecoming to Bengal, Saha expressed his excitement and eagerness to represent his state once again. "It feels great to be back with Bengal, a place where my cricketing journey began. Right now, my responsibility is to play to the best of my abilities and help Bengal achieve its goals. I’m not thinking about the IPL at this moment; my sole focus is on the matches ahead for Bengal," he stated.
Saha, who has had a storied career with the Indian cricket team and in the IPL, acknowledged the importance of staying in the present and not letting future events distract him. "Cricket is a game where you need to live in the moment. I believe in taking it one match at a time, and right now, every match for Bengal is crucial. The IPL is still some time away, and when the time comes, I'll think about it. But for now, my energy is dedicated to my performances here."
Returning to domestic cricket after years of success on the international stage, Saha aims to bring his wealth of experience to Bengal’s squad, mentoring younger players and setting an example through his performances. He highlighted the strong bond he shares with the team and the support he has received from the management and fans. "The love and support from everyone in Bengal have been overwhelming. It motivates me to give my best and contribute to the team's success. I hope to lead by example and share my experiences with the younger players in the squad."
As he prepares to don the Bengal jersey once again, Saha's focus remains unwavering. His determination to play for his state with the same intensity and passion that has defined his career is evident. While the IPL may be a significant part of his future, Saha is clear that his immediate commitment lies with Bengal cricket, ensuring that his return to the state side is marked by memorable performances and a positive impact on the team’s fortunes.
