Former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid is set to be honoured with the prestigious Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming BCCI Naman Awards. The recognition will be presented by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in appreciation of Dravid’s significant contribution to Indian cricket both as a player and later as a coach.

The Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honour given by the BCCI to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Indian cricket over a long period. The award is named after Colonel CK Nayudu, who was the first captain of the Indian cricket team in Test cricket. Over the years, the award has been presented to several legendary cricketers who played important roles in the development and success of Indian cricket.

Rahul Dravid is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the sport. He represented India for more than sixteen years and became known for his technical skill, patience and reliability at the crease. Because of his strong defensive technique and ability to perform under pressure, Dravid earned the nickname The Wall among cricket fans and commentators.

During his international career, Dravid played a total of five hundred and nine matches for India across different formats of the game. In Test cricket he appeared in one hundred and sixty four matches and scored thirteen thousand two hundred and eighty eight runs. His Test career included thirty six centuries and numerous match saving innings that helped India achieve significant victories both at home and abroad.

In One Day International cricket Dravid played three hundred and forty four matches and scored ten thousand eight hundred and eighty nine runs. He registered twelve centuries and eighty three half centuries in the format. His consistency in both Tests and One Day Internationals placed him among a select group of Indian batsmen who have scored more than ten thousand runs in both formats.

Dravid was also part of a celebrated generation of Indian cricketers that included Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. Together they formed a strong batting lineup that played a major role in India’s rise as a competitive force in world cricket during the late nineteen nineties and early two thousands.

After retiring from international cricket, Dravid continued to contribute to the sport through coaching and mentoring roles. He worked with India’s junior teams and the National Cricket Academy before taking on larger responsibilities within the national setup. His guidance has helped develop several young players who have gone on to represent India at the highest level.

The BCCI Naman Awards ceremony recognises outstanding performances by players and officials in Indian cricket each year. The event celebrates achievements across domestic and international cricket while also honouring legends who have shaped the game.

Dravid’s recognition with the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award highlights his enduring legacy and influence on Indian cricket. His contributions as a player, mentor and coach continue to inspire new generations of cricketers across the country.
