Rajasthan Royals officially announced the appointment of Vikram Rathour as their new batting coach on Friday, September 20. The former India batting coach will reunite with Rahul Dravid, who was recently appointed as the head coach of Rajasthan Royals. This marks a significant addition to the Royals' coaching staff as the franchise looks to strengthen its squad for future campaigns.
Rathour and Dravid have a successful history of working together during their tenure with the Indian men's cricket team. The duo played a pivotal role in guiding India to key victories, including the recent T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. India defeated South Africa in the final in Barbados on June 29, bringing home the coveted trophy. Their chemistry and shared understanding of the game proved to be a driving force behind the team’s success.
On Rathour's appointment, Dravid expressed his excitement about reuniting with his former colleague. "Having worked closely with Vikram for many years, I can confidently say that his technical expertise, calm demeanor, and deep understanding of Indian conditions make him a perfect fit for the Royals," Dravid said. He also highlighted Rathour's ability to nurture young talent and help players reach their full potential, an asset that will be critical as Rajasthan Royals aim to build a world-class squad.
"Together, we've built a strong rapport, guiding India to key successes, and I'm thrilled to reunite with him. His ability to nurture young talent and elevate players' potential will be invaluable as we aim to further strengthen our squad and continue building a world-class team here at Rajasthan Royals," Dravid added.
Rathour's addition to the coaching setup is expected to bring a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the Rajasthan Royals' batting department. Known for his technical acumen and calm leadership, Rathour is well-regarded in Indian cricket circles and is expected to play a key role in shaping the Royals’ batting strategy in the upcoming seasons.
The reunion of Dravid and Rathour, following their success with the national team, has generated excitement among fans and pundits alike, as Rajasthan Royals prepare to elevate their game in the IPL.
