In the meantime, the India U19 team will look to perform well in the upcoming matches against Australia, relying on other talented players to step up in Dravid's absence.

Samit Dravid, the promising young cricketer and son of former India captain Rahul Dravid, is set to remain sidelined due to a knee injury. The injury has already prevented him from participating in the one-day series against Australia Under-19s held in Puducherry, and unfortunately, it seems he will also miss the upcoming four-day matches in Chennai.

Coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar provided an update on Dravid’s condition, confirming that he is currently undergoing recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). "As of now, he's at the NCA, recovering from his knee injury," Kanitkar said, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that Dravid fully recovers before returning to play. This announcement comes just ahead of India U19's first four-day match against Australia U19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, a significant fixture that Dravid will miss.

At just 18 years old, Samit Dravid is already drawing attention for his cricketing talent, but he faces a challenging timeline regarding his eligibility for future competitions. According to ICC regulations, players must be under 19 years old as of August 31, 2025, to participate in the next Under-19 World Cup in 2026. Given that Samit’s birthday is on October 11, he will exceed this age limit, making him ineligible for the tournament. This is a disappointing development for Dravid, as he has shown great promise at the junior level and would have been a valuable asset to the team.

Despite this setback, Dravid's future in cricket remains bright. He has already made a name for himself with impressive performances in various junior tournaments, showcasing his all-round capabilities. His pedigree, being the son of one of India’s cricketing legends, adds to the expectations surrounding him. Fans and selectors alike will be eager to see how he bounces back from this injury and continues to develop his skills on the field.

In the meantime, the India U19 team will look to perform well in the upcoming matches against Australia, relying on other talented players to step up in Dravid's absence. The coaching staff will be focused on building a strong squad capable of competing at a high level, while also keeping an eye on the recovery progress of their young star.
