"When we look back at the past two seasons of the DP World ILT20, we can see that many players, whether from the UAE or countries like Afghanistan, have significantly improved their performances in ICC tournaments," Sehwag stated. He emphasized that the league has not only showcased emerging talent but has also provided essential exposure and competitive experience for players.
Sehwag also pointed out the immense learning opportunities available to UAE players through participation in the ILT20. "For the UAE team, when players compete alongside nine international stars, they gain invaluable insights not only during matches but also in how these experienced players practice, prepare, and handle pressure situations. They won't find this kind of exposure anywhere else," he explained. Drawing from his own experiences of sharing the field with international greats such as Glenn McGrath and AB de Villiers, Sehwag noted that these interactions were instrumental in shaping his career.
Shoaib Akhtar, affectionately known as the "Rawalpindi Express," echoed Sehwag's sentiments, emphasizing the league's significance as a breeding ground for talent across the GCC region. "As I've always said, it's a breeding ground of talent for GCC countries, not just the United Arab Emirates. It is only going to help cricket, and it is a great initiative.
