As Iyer continues to focus on his game, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how he performs in the upcoming matches, hoping that he remains injury-free and continues to make significant contributions to Mumbai's cricketing success.

Shreyas Iyer, the talented middle-order batter for Mumbai, recently voiced his frustration over misleading reports about his fitness, which surfaced after he scored a remarkable century in a Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra. The controversy began when a user on X shared a report from Cricbuzz, stating that Iyer would not participate in Mumbai’s upcoming match against Tripura due to injury concerns. The report claimed that he would require a week of rest and would not travel with the team to Agartala for their third-round match starting on October 26.

The Cricbuzz article cited a source from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), which further fueled the speculation about Iyer's unavailability. In light of this misinformation, Iyer took to social media to express his discontent, emphasizing the need for accurate reporting. He remarked, “No matter what people think outside, I have to listen to my body because I know the amount of threshold I’ve carried over the last few years. Based on that, I’ll be taking the right decision, and I hope my team will also back me.”

This response highlights Iyer's awareness of his physical condition and the importance of making decisions that prioritize his health and performance. He has been actively competing in recent tournaments, including the Buchi Babu Tournament and all three matches in the Duleep Trophy, as well as featuring in the first two games of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.

Earlier this year, Iyer faced criticism from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not participating in domestic matches, which ultimately led to the loss of his central contract. Despite this setback, he made a successful return to the ODI squad during India's tour of Sri Lanka but is still awaiting a call-up for Test matches. His last Test appearance for India occurred in February against England.

The inaccurate reports understandably frustrated Iyer, prompting him to call for greater diligence in journalism. His statement, “Guys, seriously, let’s do some homework before publishing news,” serves as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with reporting on athletes' fitness and career status. As Iyer continues to focus on his game, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how he performs in the upcoming matches, hoping that he remains injury-free and continues to make significant contributions to Mumbai's cricketing success.
