In a high-stakes IPL 2025 final, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan delivered a historic performance that etched their names in the record books. The duo became the first all-Indian pair to score a century partnership in an Indian Premier League final, showcasing remarkable composure and skill under pressure.
The final, held at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, saw Gujarat Titans facing off against a formidable opponent. Sent in to bat first, GT lost an early wicket, but the young guns—Gill and Sudharsan—steadied the ship and launched a stunning counterattack. Their partnership blossomed through smart strike rotation, powerful boundaries, and exceptional running between the wickets.
Gill, known for his classical technique and calm temperament, played the anchor role while Sudharsan unleashed his aggressive strokes. Together, they built a 147-run partnership—the highest for any Indian pair in an IPL final and one of the top partnerships in the tournament’s history.
Sudharsan, in particular, stood out with his scintillating strokeplay, reaching a personal milestone with a blistering 96 runs off just 47 balls. Gill supported him with a classy 72, ensuring the scoreboard ticked at a consistent pace. Their partnership set the stage for a mammoth total of 207/4, putting immense pressure on the opposition from the start.
Speaking after the match, Shubman Gill said,
“Playing an IPL final in front of a packed stadium is always special. Doing it alongside Sai and creating history makes it even more memorable.”
Sai Sudharsan added,
“We just focused on building a solid partnership. Records happen when you play for the team.”
Their achievement drew praise from across the cricketing fraternity. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly tweeted:
“This is the future of Indian cricket. Fantastic temperament and shot selection by both Gill and Sudharsan.”
The match has since become a talking point not just for the records it broke, but for the way it was played—with focus, skill, and flair. This performance not only helped Gujarat Titans gain an edge in the final but also reinforced the growing influence of young Indian talent in high-pressure scenarios.
With both players already being seen as key figures for India’s future, this performance in one of cricket’s most-watched tournaments adds yet another feather in their caps. Fans and analysts alike believe that this is just the beginning of many more milestones to come for the Gill-Sudharsan duo.
