Aaryavir, known for his fearless approach, looks set to follow in his father’s footsteps, exhibiting similar flair and aggression that Sehwag was renowned for during his cricketing career.

Virender Sehwag, one of India's most explosive and celebrated cricketers, recently shared his pride for his son, Aaryavir, following a sensational 297-run innings in the Cooch Behar Trophy. The young batter’s remarkable knock not only demonstrated his cricketing prowess but also brought a nod of appreciation from his legendary father.

Taking to social media, Sehwag posted an encouraging message on Facebook on November 22, expressing his joy over Aaryavir’s performance. "Well played @aaryavirsehwag," Sehwag wrote, adding a playful remark, "Missed a Ferrari by 23 runs. But well done, keep the fire alive and may you score many more daddy hundreds and doubles and triples. Khel jaao." This comment was a reference to a promise Sehwag made back in 2015, where he vowed to gift his sons a Ferrari if they managed to surpass his iconic 319-run innings during the Multan Test. Although Aaryavir came just short of the target, his extraordinary 297 runs was enough to bring back memories of Sehwag’s fearless batting approach.

Aaryavir’s innings came as a part of Delhi U-19’s clash against Meghalaya in the Cooch Behar Trophy, where he scored 297 off 309 balls. His knock, filled with aggressive strokeplay, included 51 boundaries and 3 sixes, achieving a strike rate of 96.12. Opening the innings alongside Arnav Bugga, who also had a stellar outing scoring 114 off 108 balls, Aaryavir laid a solid foundation for his team.

Delhi declared their dominance on Day 2 of the match, finishing with a total of 468/2, in response to Meghalaya’s 260. Despite falling agonizingly short of a triple century, Aaryavir’s efforts left a lasting impression. His knock was complemented by a brilliant century from Dhanya Nakra, who scored 130 off 122 balls, further extending Delhi’s command over the match.

This innings was a testament to Aaryavir’s growing potential, following his impressive performance in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy just a month ago, where he contributed 49 runs in Delhi's victory against Manipur. His knock in the Cooch Behar Trophy further cements his status as a promising young talent in Indian cricket, showcasing the ability to dominate in multi-day formats.

Aaryavir Sehwag’s near-triple century not only impressed cricket fans but also added another proud moment to Virender Sehwag’s legacy as a father. Though the Ferrari remains just out of reach for now, there’s no doubt that Aaryavir’s future in cricket looks exceptionally bright.
