Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, aiming to put a solid total on the board in this crucial encounter.

In the third and decisive ODI between Zimbabwe and Pakistan at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Pakistan are off to a steady start, reaching 91/1 after 20 overs. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first, aiming to put a solid total on the board in this crucial encounter.

The partnership between Abdullah Shafique and Kamran Ghulam has been pivotal in stabilising Pakistan's innings after the loss of an early wicket. Shafique, who has been calm and composed at the crease, is currently unbeaten on 41*, showing excellent timing and technique. He has been content to rotate the strike and pick up singles, while also playing a couple of well-timed boundaries, including a lofted shot off Faraz Akram in the early stages.

On the other hand, Kamran Ghulam has looked confident, especially after breaking the shackles with a powerful six off Sean Williams in the 18th over. He is currently at the crease on 19*, playing a crucial role in building a solid partnership with Shafique. The two have been well-balanced in their approach, mixing aggression with caution, and the scoreboard has been ticking along steadily.

The only wicket to fall so far was that of Saim Ayub, who was dismissed for 31 after a well-made 58-run stand with Shafique. Ayub mistimed a shot off Faraz Akram in the 18th over and was caught at deep square leg by Madande. This wicket has put more responsibility on the shoulders of Shafique and Ghulam to continue their team's momentum and build a bigger partnership.

Earlier, Pakistan's openers, Shafique and Ayub, were off to a good start, bringing up a solid 50-run stand in the 11th over. While Shafique played some crisp shots, including a stylish boundary off Sikandar Raza, Ayub showcased his aggressive intent with a six and a well-timed pull for four. Shafique also played a delightful straight drive off Blessing Muzarabani earlier in the innings. The pair had worked the ball around effectively, rotating strike and punishing anything loose.

Zimbabwe's bowlers, particularly Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava, have kept things tight in the early overs. Ngarava, in particular, bowled a disciplined spell of 4-0-20-0, but Pakistan’s openers have managed to find gaps and pick up boundaries when needed. Muzarabani has also bowled well, maintaining tight lines and keeping the batsmen under pressure.

Zimbabwe's fielding has been sharp, but the visitors have managed to keep up a steady pace, despite the occasional challenge posed by the Zimbabwean bowlers. The breakthrough finally came when Faraz Akram broke the opening partnership, removing Saim Ayub for 31 with the score at 58, handing Zimbabwe a much-needed breakthrough.

As the innings progresses, Pakistan will be looking to capitalise on this start and aim for a total that puts them in a strong position, with the likes of Shafique and Ghulam well-set at the crease. Zimbabwe will be hoping to strike again quickly and avoid letting Pakistan build too large a partnership, as the game is still well poised in this important third ODI.

With a promising foundation laid by the opening duo, all eyes will be on Shafique and Ghulam to continue the good work, while Zimbabwe will need to adapt and find the breakthroughs they need to halt Pakistan's momentum.

The two have been well-balanced in their approach, mixing aggression with caution, and the scoreboard has been ticking along steadily.
