India’s presence in global sports administration has received a boost with the appointment of Aditya Khanna as the Asia Continental Director on the Board of Directors of the Global Pickleball Federation. Khanna is one of five members selected to the federation’s top decision making body, reflecting the growing influence of Asian nations in the development of pickleball worldwide.
The Global Pickleball Federation, which oversees the international growth and governance of the sport, announced the formation of its new Board of Directors as part of its efforts to strengthen continental representation. Alongside Khanna, the board includes Javier Regalado of Mexico, who serves as the President of the GPF and has been appointed as the Americas Continental Director. Australia’s Jen Ramamurthy has been named the Oceania Continental Director, ensuring balanced leadership across regions.
Aditya Khanna brings valuable sporting experience to the role, having previously competed as a tennis player before transitioning into sports administration. His appointment is seen as a significant step for the promotion and organisation of pickleball across Asia, a region where the sport has witnessed rapid growth in recent years. With increasing participation in countries such as India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, the need for structured governance and development strategies has become essential.
As Asia Continental Director, Khanna will be responsible for coordinating with national federations, supporting grassroots development, and aligning regional initiatives with the Global Pickleball Federation’s long term vision. His role will also involve working closely with other continental directors to ensure consistency in rules, competition standards, and athlete development pathways across different parts of the world.
The inclusion of experienced administrators from multiple continents underlines the GPF’s objective to establish pickleball as a truly global sport. With pickleball gaining recognition due to its accessibility and growing popularity among different age groups, the federation aims to expand its footprint through organised tournaments, coaching programs, and international collaborations.
Javier Regalado’s dual role as GPF President and Americas Continental Director provides continuity in leadership, while Jen Ramamurthy’s appointment strengthens representation from Oceania. Together with Khanna, the board is expected to play a crucial role in shaping policy decisions and driving the sport’s international expansion.
Khanna’s appointment has been welcomed by the Indian pickleball community, which views it as recognition of India’s increasing contribution to the sport. His presence on the global board is expected to create new opportunities for Asian players, officials, and organisers to engage more actively with international events and governance structures.
As pickleball continues to gain momentum worldwide, the Global Pickleball Federation’s leadership appointments signal a focused approach toward inclusive growth, regional development, and stronger global coordination.
