Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi has expressed confidence in effectively managing the newly formed MotoGP "dream team" of reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia and multiple-time world champion Marc Marquez for the 2025 season. The pairing, which brings together two of the sport’s most accomplished riders, is anticipated to be a dominant force on the grid. Marquez, who joins Ducati after a long and successful career with Honda, replaces Enea Bastianini in the factory team lineup.
This collaboration has sparked excitement among fans and pundits but has also raised questions about the dynamics of having two high-profile champions sharing the same garage. While Bagnaia is deeply familiar with Ducati's systems and has been a key figure in its recent success, Marquez is new to the team and may need to establish his presence within the factory setup. Despite these challenges, Tardozzi is unfazed, pointing to the mutual respect and professionalism both riders have displayed.
"I think it will be very easy to manage them," Tardozzi stated confidently during Ducati's team launch in Italy. "What supports my opinion is the respect they have for each other. They speak a lot, and they are working together to improve the bike. Ultimately, the race track will determine who leads and who follows, but this competition will drive both of them to perform better in subsequent races."
Tardozzi also highlighted that Ducati has historically treated all its riders equally, a philosophy they plan to continue. In 2024, Ducati allowed Pramac Racing’s Jorge Martin to challenge for the title on equal terms with Bagnaia, despite Martin's impending move to Aprilia. This approach underscores Ducati's commitment to supporting its riders without favoritism, even when balancing two strong personalities.
With Marquez now back in a factory team setup after a year with Gresini Racing in 2024, he is expected to contribute significantly to the development of Ducati's new GP25 prototype. His expertise and feedback will play a vital role in refining the bike for competitive performance, complementing Bagnaia’s in-depth understanding of Ducati’s machinery.
The 2025 season also features Fabio di Giannantonio on the latest GP25 bike under the VR46 Racing Team banner, adding another layer of competitiveness to Ducati's already formidable lineup. However, Bagnaia and Marquez remain the primary focus as they aim to establish themselves as the top contenders in MotoGP.
Tardozzi emphasized that working with champions like Bagnaia and Marquez is more straightforward than managing younger, less experienced riders. "In the end, it’s easier to work with champions than young kids. They both know what it takes to win, and they respect each other’s skills. Our job is to provide them with the tools and support to succeed."
As Ducati enters the 2025 season, the team’s focus will be on maintaining harmony within its garage while capitalizing on the combined strengths of two of MotoGP’s greatest talents. Fans eagerly await the outcomes, hoping to witness a historic season marked by fierce competition and unparalleled teamwork.
