Aston Martin has announced that Dan Fallows will step down from his position as Technical Director of the Formula 1 team, effective this month. Fallows, who joined Aston Martin in April 2022, made the move after spending a significant period with Red Bull, where he rose through the ranks to become Chief Engineer – Aerodynamics. His wealth of experience and expertise in aerodynamics played a crucial role in the team’s development efforts since his arrival.

Under Fallows' leadership, Aston Martin experienced a promising boost in performance during the 2023 season. With Fernando Alonso driving the AMR23, the team secured eight podium finishes, marking a notable achievement. This marked a brief but significant period of growth for the team, which had previously been in a rebuilding phase. However, as the season progressed, Aston Martin's form began to falter as rival teams closed the gap, and the team has since remained in fifth place in the Constructors' Championship.

Fallows’ departure comes amid a broader shake-up within the team’s leadership. Aston Martin has appointed Andy Cowell as the new CEO, replacing Martin Whitmarsh, signaling a shift in management. Additionally, the team has made strides in strengthening its technical side by recruiting some of Formula 1’s most influential figures. Renowned Red Bull designer Adrian Newey is set to join in March 2025, while long-time Ferrari engineer Enrico Cardile will join the team in 2025 as well.

In a statement, Fallows expressed his pride in his work at Aston Martin: "It has been a joy and a privilege to guide the technical team on their journey towards being race and championship winners. It is time for me to pass on the baton, but I look forward to watching the team's future success, which I am sure will come soon."

Although Fallows is stepping down from his role as Technical Director, he will remain with Aston Martin in a different capacity, with details of his new role yet to be announced. The team expressed gratitude for his contributions and remains focused on its long-term goals as it continues to restructure its leadership and technical resources for future success in Formula 1.
