Lewis Hamilton is determined to give his all in the final three races of the 2024 Formula 1 season with Mercedes, despite a challenging performance at the recent Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Hamilton, who has faced a difficult year with the team, had a disappointing weekend in Brazil, finishing 10th in the main race and 11th in the sprint. Following these results, he described the weekend as disastrous and admitted to feeling disheartened, even contemplating an early exit from the sport. During the race, he expressed his frustration over team radio, saying it would be unfortunate if that was his last performance.

However, Hamilton's resolve has remained strong as he looks ahead to the Las Vegas Grand Prix this weekend. Reflecting on his emotional reaction in Brazil, he acknowledged that, in the heat of the moment, he felt like stepping away but emphasized that such feelings were natural after a difficult race. “In the moment, that’s how I felt,” Hamilton said. “I didn’t really want to come back after that weekend, but that’s only natural.” He further admitted that he would have preferred to be relaxing on a beach, but his sense of duty and commitment to Mercedes has pushed him to stay focused and give his best in these final races.

Hamilton's dedication to his team, even with his upcoming move to Ferrari in 2025, remains unwavering. "Nothing can take me down," he stated, expressing his deep affection for Mercedes and his desire to finish the season on a high note. He emphasized that if the team could provide him with a competitive car in the remaining races, he hoped to deliver improved results and end his 12-year tenure with Mercedes on a positive note.

This weekend’s Las Vegas Grand Prix is particularly significant, as it marks a decade since Hamilton clinched his second drivers' championship at the 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The British driver, who has had a storied career with Mercedes, is currently seventh in the drivers' standings, just two points behind his teammate George Russell. The pair’s performances have been nearly identical this year, with Russell contributing 50.26% of Mercedes' points, while Hamilton has contributed 49.74%. This marks the closest split between teammates in F1, highlighting their tight competition throughout the season.

As Hamilton prepares for his final three races with Mercedes, the pressure is on to deliver a strong performance, not only for himself but for the team as they look to close the chapter of this era before his departure. Despite the ups and downs of the season, Hamilton’s commitment to finishing strong is a testament to his professionalism and passion for the sport.

He emphasized that if the team could provide him with a competitive car in the remaining races, he hoped to deliver improved results and end his 12-year tenure with Mercedes on a positive note.
