Max Verstappen expressed frustration with the recent adjustments made to Red Bull’s RB20, which he described as "uncontrollable" during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on September 15. The Dutch driver struggled throughout the race and ultimately finished in fifth place, though he still holds a comfortable 59-point lead over McLaren’s Lando Norris, who finished one position ahead of him.
Verstappen’s performance in Baku was somewhat fortuitous, as he benefited from a collision between his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz on the penultimate lap, which allowed him to gain a position.
The reigning three-time world champion is currently facing a challenging period, having gone six races without securing a pole position and seven races without a victory. His last win was at the Spanish Grand Prix in June. Verstappen highlighted that issues with his car during qualifying seemed to carry over into the race, impacting his overall performance.
Despite these setbacks, Verstappen remains optimistic about Red Bull’s ability to address the issues and is hopeful for a strong comeback at the next race in Singapore.
