Preventive healthcare measures, including health awareness sessions, were conducted to educate the community about hygiene, nutrition, and lifestyle related diseases.

The Indian Navy successfully organised a Joint Services Multi Speciality Medical Camp in Lakshadweep from January 12 to January 16 as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare access in remote island regions. The initiative brought together medical professionals from multiple branches of the armed forces to deliver comprehensive healthcare services to island residents.

The medical camp was conducted across selected locations in Lakshadweep, where access to advanced medical facilities is often limited due to geographic isolation. Doctors and medical staff from the Indian Navy, along with specialists from other services, participated in the program. The team included experts in general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, dentistry, and other key specialties.

During the five day camp, residents were provided free medical consultations, basic diagnostic tests, and treatment advice. Medicines were also distributed to patients as required. Special attention was given to elderly citizens, women, and children. Preventive healthcare measures, including health awareness sessions, were conducted to educate the community about hygiene, nutrition, and lifestyle related diseases.

The initiative also focused on early detection of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and vision related issues. Patients requiring advanced treatment or follow up care were referred to appropriate medical facilities. Medical records were documented to ensure continuity of care in coordination with local healthcare providers.

Local administration and healthcare workers played an important role in facilitating the smooth functioning of the camp. Volunteers assisted in registration, crowd management, and patient guidance. Temporary medical infrastructure was set up to accommodate the large number of beneficiaries.

Officials stated that the medical camp reflects the Indian Navy’s commitment to community welfare and humanitarian assistance. Such outreach programs aim to bridge the healthcare gap in geographically challenging regions and support the well being of island populations.

Residents expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the presence of specialist doctors helped address long pending medical concerns. The camp also strengthened coordination between the armed forces and civil administration in Lakshadweep.

The Indian Navy has regularly conducted medical outreach and disaster relief operations across coastal and island regions. The Joint Services Multi Speciality Medical Camp in Lakshadweep is part of a broader effort to promote health security and social responsibility alongside national defense duties.
