KTM has not yet disclosed detailed pricing or availability timelines for all markets.

Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has introduced the 990 RC R Track, a purpose built circuit only version of its upcoming 2026 supersport model. The new motorcycle is derived from the standard KTM 990 RC R, but has been significantly modified to meet the demands of closed circuit racing.

The 990 RC R Track removes road legal equipment such as mirrors, indicators and other compliance related components. In their place, KTM has integrated race focused hardware designed to enhance lap time performance and aerodynamic efficiency. The motorcycle is not intended for public road use and is developed specifically for track enthusiasts and competitive riders.

One of the key highlights of the 990 RC R Track is its aerodynamic package inspired by MotoGP machines. The bodywork incorporates advanced winglets and airflow management elements aimed at increasing downforce and stability during high speed cornering. Such aerodynamic enhancements are designed to improve grip and reduce front wheel lift under acceleration.

The motorcycle is powered by a high performance parallel twin engine derived from the standard 990 RC R platform. KTM has fine tuned the engine mapping and exhaust system to deliver sharper throttle response and consistent power delivery suitable for racing conditions. Although exact performance figures may vary depending on final specifications, the model is positioned as a serious contender for track day riders and amateur racing categories.

The chassis has also received upgrades tailored for circuit performance. The suspension setup features adjustable components to allow riders to optimize handling characteristics for different track layouts. Braking hardware includes high specification calipers and discs engineered for repeated heavy braking zones encountered during competitive riding.

Weight reduction has been a priority in the development process. By eliminating non essential components and utilizing lightweight materials, KTM aims to improve the power to weight ratio and enhance agility. The design philosophy focuses on precision, stability and rider feedback.

The introduction of the 990 RC R Track reflects KTM’s broader motorsport heritage and its emphasis on performance engineering. The company has a strong presence in international racing championships and continues to incorporate race derived technologies into its production models.

Industry observers note that track only motorcycles appeal to a niche but dedicated segment of riders who prioritize performance over practicality. Such models often serve as platforms for skill development and competitive participation in controlled environments.

KTM has not yet disclosed detailed pricing or availability timelines for all markets. However, the unveiling underscores the brand’s commitment to expanding its supersport portfolio with specialized variants.

With race focused aerodynamics, performance tuned hardware and a stripped down configuration, the 990 RC R Track stands as a dedicated circuit machine designed to deliver a focused and uncompromising riding experience.
