Major Two-Wheelers Discontinued in 2025, Harley-Davidson, KTM Duke and Royal Enfield Models Affected

Buyers interested in discontinued motorcycles may still find limited availability at select dealerships, but long-term availability of spare parts and servicing remains a key consideration.

The Indian two-wheeler market has witnessed a significant reshuffle in 2025 with several popular motorcycle models being officially discontinued by leading manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson, KTM, and Royal Enfield. These discontinuations mark a strategic shift in the product portfolios of major brands as the industry adapts to new emission regulations, rising fuel costs, and changing customer preferences.

One of the major reasons behind the discontinuation of several models is the implementation of stricter emission norms and regulatory requirements. Manufacturers are required to invest heavily in upgrading engines to meet environmental standards, which has increased production costs. In many cases, companies have chosen to phase out low-volume or less profitable models instead of upgrading them.

Harley-Davidson has reportedly discontinued select middleweight and entry-level offerings from its Indian line-up as part of its global restructuring and focus on premium, high-margin products. The brand has been streamlining its portfolio worldwide and is concentrating on core models that align with its long-term business strategy. Some discontinued models were earlier assembled locally in partnership with Indian manufacturers.

KTM has also removed specific variants of its Duke series from its 2025 portfolio. The discontinuation is believed to be linked to upcoming model updates, engine revisions, and compliance with emission standards. KTM continues to focus on performance-oriented motorcycles but is restructuring its range to introduce newer platforms with improved fuel efficiency and advanced electronics.

Royal Enfield, which dominates the mid-capacity motorcycle segment in India, has also phased out select older-generation models. The company is gradually replacing legacy platforms with modern engines, updated chassis, and enhanced safety features. As consumer demand shifts toward technologically advanced and more efficient motorcycles, older versions with dated engineering are being retired.

In addition to regulatory and cost factors, market demand has played a crucial role in these decisions. Indian buyers are increasingly showing interest in fuel-efficient engines, connected features, and electric two-wheelers. This changing preference has forced manufacturers to reassess their existing offerings and focus resources on future-ready products.

Dealers across the country have confirmed that stocks of several discontinued models are either limited or completely exhausted. In some cases, manufacturers are offering discounts on remaining stock to clear inventories. Buyers interested in discontinued motorcycles may still find limited availability at select dealerships, but long-term availability of spare parts and servicing remains a key consideration.

Industry experts believe these discontinuations are also linked to the broader transition toward electric mobility. With the government pushing for EV adoption and offering incentives for electric two-wheelers, manufacturers are investing heavily in electric platforms. As a result, resources are being diverted away from older internal combustion engine models.

For existing owners of discontinued motorcycles, manufacturers have assured continued after-sales support, including access to spare parts and authorized service centres for several years as per regulatory guidelines. However, the resale value of these motorcycles may be impacted depending on market demand and parts availability.

Overall, the list of discontinued bikes in 2025 reflects a larger transformation underway in the Indian automobile industry. As brands adapt to stricter norms, technological advancements, and evolving customer expectations, more such changes are expected in the coming years. Consumers are advised to stay informed about model updates, upcoming launches, and policy developments before making their next purchase decision.

In addition to regulatory and cost factors, market demand has played a crucial role in these decisions.
