Ola Electric has officially launched its much-anticipated software upgrade, MoveOS 5, aimed at delivering a more intelligent and user-friendly experience to riders of its electric scooters. The rollout marks another step in Ola’s strategy to transform two-wheeler mobility in India through constant innovation and technological improvements.
MoveOS 5 is a major update, bringing more than 100 new features and improvements to Ola’s S1 series of electric scooters. The update focuses on enhancing safety, ride control, user interface, and connectivity, making the scooters smarter and more interactive than ever before. The company has positioned this update as a user-centric move, aimed at responding to real-world feedback from its rapidly growing customer base across India.
Among the most talked-about additions is the introduction of new riding modes that allow users to customize their riding style depending on traffic conditions, road types, and personal preferences. The upgraded software also improves acceleration response, regenerative braking, and energy efficiency, making daily rides smoother and more efficient.
Another standout feature in MoveOS 5 is the enhanced turn-by-turn navigation system. The system has been refined to provide more accurate guidance, quicker GPS responsiveness, and integration with voice commands, allowing riders to keep their focus on the road while navigating busy urban routes.
The update also significantly upgrades the scooter’s connectivity capabilities. With deeper smartphone integration, users can now access notifications, calls, and music controls directly from the scooter’s touchscreen display. The companion Ola Electric app also receives enhancements, including remote diagnostics, theft alerts, battery analytics, and real-time scooter location tracking.
One of the major highlights of MoveOS 5 is the improved Hill Hold Assist. This feature makes it easier for riders to manage steep slopes, especially in hilly terrains or congested city environments. It ensures the vehicle stays stationary without rolling backward, offering greater confidence to riders.
Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said in a statement that MoveOS 5 is part of the company’s mission to redefine mobility in India. He highlighted the role of software in the evolution of electric vehicles and said the company will continue to innovate aggressively in this space. According to him, software-led advancements are what differentiate Ola’s electric scooters from conventional two-wheelers.
The rollout of MoveOS 5 will be available as an over-the-air (OTA) update, allowing existing customers to upgrade their scooters without visiting service centers. This approach not only simplifies the process but also reinforces the company’s focus on user convenience.
As India rapidly embraces electric mobility, Ola Electric aims to be at the forefront by offering vehicles that are not only environmentally sustainable but also digitally advanced. The MoveOS 5 update is a reflection of this broader vision and positions Ola as a technology-first mobility company.
With this latest update, Ola Electric hopes to strengthen its market leadership in the Indian EV sector while continuing to set new benchmarks for smart mobility.
