The company will need to maintain product availability, charging compatibility, service support and competitive pricing as the electric vehicle market develops.

TVS Motor Company reported strong sales growth in September 2026, with total sales increasing 24 percent year on year to 672,790 units. The company had sold 541,064 units during September 2025. The latest figures indicate continued growth across its two wheeler, electric vehicle, three wheeler and international business segments.

The September performance comes ahead of the peak festive season in India, when demand for two wheelers and other automobiles typically receives additional support from consumer purchases and promotional offers. TVS Motor has recorded growth across several key segments during the month, with electric vehicles and international operations making a significant contribution to the overall performance.

Two wheeler sales were one of the main contributors to the company's September growth. TVS Motor sold 645,955 two wheelers during the month, representing a 23 percent increase compared with 523,923 units sold in September 2025.

Domestic two wheeler sales increased 17 percent year on year to 482,073 units from 413,279 units a year earlier. The domestic performance indicates that demand for TVS motorcycles and scooters remained firm during the month.

The company's electric two wheeler business recorded an even stronger increase. TVS Motor sold 65,799 electric two wheelers in September 2026, compared with 31,266 units in the same month last year. This represents a 110 percent year on year increase.

The sharp rise in EV sales is significant for TVS Motor as the company continues to expand its presence in India's electric mobility market. The growth also comes after the company reported a 137 percent increase in electric two wheeler sales in August 2026, when it sold 59,453 units compared with 25,138 units in August 2025.

International business also delivered strong growth during September. TVS Motor's total international business sales increased 48 percent to 180,700 units from 122,108 units in September 2025.

International two wheeler sales increased 48 percent to 163,882 units from 110,644 units in the corresponding month last year. The performance highlights the growing contribution of overseas markets to TVS Motor's overall sales volumes.

Three wheeler sales also registered substantial growth during the month. TVS Motor sold 26,835 three wheelers in September 2026, compared with 17,141 units in September 2025. This represents a 57 percent year on year increase.

The company's September numbers followed a strong performance in the second quarter of financial year 2026-27. TVS Motor reported quarterly sales of around 1.9 million units during Q2 FY27. Total two wheeler sales for the quarter increased 27 percent to 1.8 million units from around 1.5 million units in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Three wheeler sales during the second quarter also increased significantly. The company sold 78,475 three wheelers in Q2 FY27, compared with 53,449 units in Q2 FY26, representing a 47 percent increase.

Electric vehicle sales were another major contributor to quarterly growth. TVS Motor's two wheeler EV sales increased 133 percent during Q2 FY27 to 186,000 units. This was significantly higher than the corresponding period last year and reflects the increasing contribution of electric scooters and other electric two wheelers to the company's overall business.

The company's international business also performed strongly during the quarter. International sales increased 35 percent to around 539,000 units compared with approximately 400,000 units during the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The September sales performance therefore reflects growth across multiple areas rather than being dependent on a single product category. Domestic two wheeler demand increased, electric vehicle volumes more than doubled, international sales expanded, and three wheeler volumes also recorded double digit growth.

The electric vehicle segment remains particularly important for the company's future growth strategy. The 110 percent increase in September EV sales comes as competition in India's electric two wheeler market continues to intensify. Several manufacturers are expanding their electric vehicle portfolios, while consumers are increasingly considering electric scooters as an alternative to conventional petrol powered models.

TVS Motor has been expanding its electric mobility portfolio through products under its TVS iQube range and other electric mobility initiatives. The company has also been increasing its presence in international markets as demand for electric and conventional two wheelers develops across different regions.

The September figures also provide an indication of the company's operating momentum before the festive season. However, monthly sales numbers should not be treated as a direct measure of profitability because sales volumes can be influenced by factors such as inventory, discounts, product launches, exports, financing availability and seasonal demand.

The company has not indicated that the September sales growth alone will translate directly into a similar increase in revenue or profit. Investors generally consider sales volumes along with margins, raw material costs, product mix, exports and other financial indicators when evaluating the company's performance.

TVS Motor's latest figures also come at a time when India's automobile sector is experiencing increased competition across petrol, electric and premium two wheeler categories. Manufacturers are focusing on new models, technology, connected features and electric mobility to attract consumers.

For consumers, the strong EV sales growth reported by TVS Motor indicates that electric two wheelers are becoming an increasingly important part of the company's sales mix. The company will need to maintain product availability, charging compatibility, service support and competitive pricing as the electric vehicle market develops.

Overall, TVS Motor's September 2026 sales showed broad based growth. Total sales rose 24 percent to 672,790 units, while two wheeler sales increased 23 percent. Electric two wheeler sales recorded the strongest percentage growth at 110 percent. International business increased 48 percent and three wheeler sales grew 57 percent.

The company will now enter the next phase of the financial year with strong quarterly sales momentum and increasing EV volumes. The performance of the festive season, future product launches and demand across domestic and international markets will be important factors for TVS Motor's sales trajectory in the coming months.

However, monthly sales numbers should not be treated as a direct measure of profitability because sales volumes can be influenced by factors such as inventory, discounts, product launches, exports, financing availability and seasonal demand.
