Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift Crosses 60,000 Bookings in Six Weeks, Demand Outpaces Supply

The combination of multiple powertrains is also intended to broaden the SUV's appeal across different sections of the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki has reported strong customer interest in the updated Brezza, with bookings for the 2026 facelift reaching close to 60,000 units within six weeks of its launch in India. The latest booking figure was disclosed by Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India, highlighting the continued demand for the compact SUV.

The new Brezza was launched in India on July 24, 2026, with updates across its design, equipment and powertrain lineup. The company has positioned the refreshed model as an important product in its compact SUV portfolio, a segment that continues to attract a large number of Indian car buyers.

The booking milestone is particularly significant because Maruti Suzuki says demand is currently running ahead of production capacity. According to Banerjee, the company has received close to 60,000 bookings in six weeks but cannot deliver that volume within a single month. The company is therefore working to increase production and manage its supply chain as it attempts to meet customer demand.

The new Brezza is available with three powertrain choices. One of the biggest changes is the introduction of a new 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine. This is the first time the Brezza has received a factory fitted turbo petrol powertrain. The engine produces 110.2 PS of maximum power and 170 Nm of peak torque, according to current reports. It is paired with a six speed manual transmission and mild hybrid technology.

The turbo petrol engine has also become an important part of the new Brezza's booking mix. Maruti Suzuki has stated that more than 40 percent of the bookings are for the turbo petrol version. The strong response to this variant could be linked partly to its pricing and performance characteristics.

The new turbo petrol engine is smaller in displacement than the Brezza's existing petrol engine but offers higher torque output. Maruti has used the 1.0 litre Turbo Boosterjet unit to give customers an additional choice in a competitive compact SUV segment.

The existing 1.5 litre petrol engine continues to be available in the updated Brezza. It produces around 103 PS and 139 Nm of torque and is offered with manual and automatic transmission choices. This engine remains an important option for buyers who prefer a naturally aspirated petrol powertrain.

The Brezza is also available with an S CNG powertrain. The availability of petrol and CNG options allows Maruti Suzuki to target customers with different fuel and usage requirements. The combination of multiple powertrains is also intended to broaden the SUV's appeal across different sections of the Indian market.

The facelift brings changes to the exterior design as well. The updated Brezza features revised styling intended to give the compact SUV a more contemporary appearance. Maruti Suzuki has also added new features and technology as part of the update. Safety equipment has been enhanced as the company continues to increase the technology content available across its passenger vehicle range.

According to Maruti Suzuki, the Brezza nameplate has built a strong customer base in India since its introduction. The company said that the model had crossed more than 1.4 million customers over a decade by the time bookings opened for the 2026 version. Maruti has described the Brezza as its highest selling compact SUV based on JATO Dynamics data for the relevant period.

The latest booking numbers also come at a time when the Indian passenger vehicle market is experiencing strong demand. Industry-wide passenger vehicle wholesales reached a record level in August 2026, with Maruti Suzuki reporting significant year-on-year growth. SUVs have remained an important driver of demand in the Indian market, although individual model performance can vary depending on supply, pricing and availability.

For the Brezza, however, the immediate challenge appears to be production rather than a lack of customer interest. Maruti Suzuki has acknowledged supply constraints and said that vendors and suppliers are working on increasing capacity. The company expects the supply situation to improve as production is gradually increased.

The strong booking figure should also be distinguished from retail sales or deliveries. A booking represents a customer's order or reservation and does not necessarily mean that the vehicle has already been delivered. Therefore, the 60,000 booking figure should not be directly compared with monthly sales numbers without considering the difference between bookings, wholesale dispatches and retail deliveries.

The Brezza's pricing has also played a role in its positioning. Reports following the facelift launch indicate that the turbo petrol range starts at around Rs 7.4 lakh ex-showroom, while the exact price varies according to the variant and powertrain selected. Buyers should check the latest official prices at the time of purchase because prices, taxes and variant availability can change.

The compact SUV segment in India remains highly competitive, with several manufacturers offering petrol, turbo petrol, CNG and other powertrain options. In this environment, Maruti Suzuki is relying on the Brezza's established brand recognition, extensive sales network, multiple powertrain choices and updated features to maintain its position.

The response to the 2026 facelift suggests that the Brezza continues to have strong recognition among Indian customers. The addition of a turbo petrol engine gives the model a new performance-oriented option, while the existing petrol and CNG versions continue to address buyers looking for different fuel and transmission combinations.

With close to 60,000 bookings in six weeks, the updated Brezza has made a strong start in the Indian market. However, the next challenge for Maruti Suzuki will be to convert these bookings into timely deliveries while maintaining production quality and managing supply chain constraints.

Overall, the latest booking milestone indicates continued customer interest in the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. The facelift combines updated styling and features with multiple powertrain options, while the newly introduced turbo petrol engine has attracted a substantial share of bookings. Maruti Suzuki's ability to increase production and reduce waiting periods will now be an important factor in determining how the Brezza performs during the upcoming festive season.

SUVs have remained an important driver of demand in the Indian market, although individual model performance can vary depending on supply, pricing and availability.
