Renault has launched the new Triber Turbo in India, expanding its popular compact MPV range with a more powerful turbo petrol engine. The new model is priced from Rs 7.84 lakh ex-showroom and is available in three variants. The top-end version is priced at Rs 8.99 lakh ex-showroom. The launch gives customers an additional powertrain option alongside the naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The new Renault Triber Turbo is powered by a 1.0 litre three cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The engine produces 100hp and 180Nm of torque. Renault has paired the engine with a five speed manual gearbox at launch. The power is sent to the front wheels. The same engine family is used in other Renault models, including the Kiger and Duster, although the Triber receives its own engine management calibration and torque output.
The naturally aspirated petrol engine in the existing Triber produces substantially less power and torque. The introduction of the turbocharged engine therefore gives buyers an alternative for those looking for a higher-output version of the compact MPV.
