Tata Cars has launched the new Aeris compact sedan in India with an introductory starting price of Rs 5.29 lakh, ex showroom. The new sedan replaces the Tata Tigor in the company’s compact sedan range and receives significant changes to its exterior design, interior layout and feature list. The underlying petrol and CNG powertrain options have been carried forward from the previous model.
The Tata Aeris is available in five variants named Smart, Pure, Pure Plus, Creative and Accomplished. The petrol manual range starts at Rs 5.29 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.19 lakh. The CNG range starts at Rs 6.29 lakh and extends to Rs 9.19 lakh for the top Accomplished manual variant. The AMT versions are available across selected variants, with the overall range extending up to Rs 9.74 lakh for the Accomplished CNG AMT. All prices are introductory ex showroom prices.
Bookings for the Tata Aeris have opened following its launch. Tata has announced that deliveries of the new sedan will begin from October 11, 2026. The launch gives Tata a new offering in the sub four metre sedan segment, where it competes with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.
In terms of exterior styling, the Aeris represents a substantial visual change compared with the outgoing Tigor. The front design takes inspiration from the Tiago and features slimmer LED headlamps with eyebrow style daytime running lights. The sedan also gets a redesigned grille, updated bumpers and LED fog lamps. The new design gives the Aeris a more contemporary appearance while retaining the familiar compact sedan proportions.
The side profile continues with the compact sedan layout, but Tata has added newly designed alloy wheels and other styling updates. Depending on the variant, the Aeris gets 14 inch or 15 inch wheels. The car is offered in six exterior colour options, including Nitro Crimson, Pure Grey, Dandeli Drizzle, Pristine White, Daytona Grey and Dune Glow.
The rear section also receives changes. The Aeris gets redesigned LED tail lamps, a revised rear bumper and updated styling elements. The overall design is intended to distinguish the new sedan from the outgoing Tigor while maintaining the practical dimensions of a sub four metre car.
The Aeris measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,684 mm in width and 1,532 mm in height. It has a 2,450 mm wheelbase and 170 mm of ground clearance. The petrol version offers 419 litres of boot space. The CNG version uses a dual cylinder arrangement, which helps preserve usable luggage space compared with some conventional CNG layouts.
The interior of the Tata Aeris has also been redesigned. The dashboard follows a layout inspired by the Tiago and features a larger 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system. The car also gets a semi digital driver display and an updated steering wheel. Depending on the variant, customers can get features such as a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery and an integrated dashcam function.
Safety equipment is another area where the Aeris receives an updated package. The sedan is offered with six airbags as standard, along with a 360 degree camera, blind spot monitoring, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold control and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. Feature availability can vary according to the selected variant.
The powertrain options remain familiar. The Tata Aeris uses a 1.2 litre three cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque. The CNG version produces 76 PS and 97 Nm of torque. Both powertrains are available with a five speed manual transmission, while selected variants also receive a five speed automated manual transmission.
One of the notable changes is that the Aeris combines the existing mechanical package with a substantially refreshed design and additional equipment. This approach allows Tata to introduce a new compact sedan while retaining the familiar petrol and CNG powertrain technology used in the Tigor and Tiago.
The Aeris enters an increasingly competitive compact sedan market. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze remain established options in this segment. The new Tata sedan is positioned with a lower introductory starting price than the outgoing Tigor, while its top variant carries a higher price than the previous model's top version.
The launch also reflects Tata's continued focus on offering petrol and CNG choices to private buyers. The company has positioned the Aeris around everyday practicality, comfort, technology and design, while retaining a compact footprint suitable for urban use. Tata's official announcement describes the car as being developed specifically for private customers and available with petrol and iCNG powertrain choices.
With bookings now open and deliveries scheduled to begin on October 11, the Tata Aeris will soon reach customers across India.
