The feature, branded as “Infinite Cruise Control”, is being delivered to users via an over-the-air software update, ensuring that both new and existing customers can access the functionality without visiting a service centre.

Ather Energy has announced the introduction of a new cruise control feature for its popular electric scooter, the Ather 450X. The feature, branded as “Infinite Cruise Control”, is being delivered to users via an over-the-air software update, ensuring that both new and existing customers can access the functionality without visiting a service centre.

The cruise control system allows riders to maintain a constant speed without continuously engaging the throttle. This can be particularly useful on longer rides, reducing rider fatigue and improving overall comfort. According to Ather, the feature has been designed specifically for Indian riding conditions, with smooth acceleration and deceleration to ensure safety and stability.

One of the key highlights of the update is its availability to existing Ather 450X owners. Unlike traditional vehicle upgrades that often require hardware modifications, the cruise control feature is entirely software-based. This reflects Ather’s software-first approach to vehicle development, where performance and convenience can be improved through regular updates.

The Infinite Cruise Control feature is integrated with the scooter’s existing ride modes and electronic systems. Riders can activate or deactivate the function using the scooter’s controls, and the system automatically disengages when the brakes are applied or when significant throttle input is detected. This ensures that the rider remains in control at all times.

Ather Energy has built a strong reputation in India’s electric two-wheeler market by focusing on connected technology and user-centric features. The Ather 450X already offers features such as a touchscreen dashboard, navigation, ride analytics, and multiple riding modes. The addition of cruise control further enhances the scooter’s premium positioning.

Industry observers note that software-driven features are becoming increasingly important in the electric vehicle segment. Over-the-air updates allow manufacturers to continuously improve products after purchase, extending vehicle life and increasing customer satisfaction. Ather’s latest update aligns with this broader trend in electric mobility.

The rollout of Infinite Cruise Control is expected to reach eligible scooters in phases. Ather has advised users to ensure their vehicles are connected to the internet to receive the update. With this addition, the Ather 450X strengthens its appeal among urban commuters and long-distance riders alike.
