BYD Denza India Launch on November 13: Expected Models, Features and Prices

BYD is preparing to introduce Denza, its luxury vehicle brand, to the Indian market on November 13, 2026. The launch is expected to mark the company’s expansion into the premium electric vehicle segment, with two models attracting attention ahead of the announcement: the Denza D9 luxury MPV and the Denza Z9 GT performance-oriented electric shooting brake.

According to reports from automotive publications, BYD is expected to reveal its India-specific product line-up and retail strategy during the launch event. Although the two models are expected to lead the brand’s Indian debut, their final specifications, prices and availability have not yet been officially confirmed.

What Is Denza?

Denza is BYD’s premium automotive brand, developed to offer luxury vehicles with advanced technology and electric powertrains. The brand was established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz later exited the venture, and BYD became the sole owner in 2024.

Denza operates in several international markets and offers luxury electric vehicles as well as plug-in hybrid models. Its planned Indian entry is expected to position it above BYD’s existing passenger vehicle range, targeting buyers interested in premium features, performance and electric mobility.

Reports suggest that Denza could follow a separate retail strategy in India, with dedicated showrooms in major cities. However, the company is expected to provide further details about its sales network and customer experience during the official unveiling.

Denza D9: Luxury Electric MPV

The Denza D9 is expected to be one of the first vehicles introduced in India. It is a large, three-row luxury MPV designed for customers who prioritise cabin comfort, passenger space and premium equipment.

The international electric version features a battery pack of approximately 103 kWh and a front-mounted electric motor. Reports on the expected India-spec model indicate power output of around 308 to 313 bhp and 360 Nm of torque. Its claimed driving range is expected to be approximately 520 km under the WLTP testing cycle. These figures are based on reports and international specifications; the final Indian version could differ.

The D9’s cabin is expected to be a major selling point. Its seven-seat layout can include second-row captain’s chairs with powered adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage functions. Other international-market features include premium upholstery, multi-zone climate control, ambient lighting and an advanced audio system.

In India, the D9 could compete with premium MPVs such as the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire. Depending on its final positioning and equipment, it may also attract buyers considering the Lexus LM and Mercedes-Benz V-Class.

The expected ex-showroom price is around Rs 85 lakh to Rs 90 lakh, although some reports suggest a broader range. Buyers will need to wait for the official announcement to learn the final price, variant details, warranty and delivery schedule.

Denza Z9 GT: A Performance-Focused Electric Car

The Denza Z9 GT is the other model expected to draw attention during the brand’s Indian debut. Unlike the D9, which focuses on passenger comfort, the Z9 GT is a sporty four-door shooting brake that combines a distinctive body style with high-performance electric technology.

The international electric version uses a 122.5 kWh battery and a three-motor configuration. Reports cite a combined output of around 1,140 to 1,156 bhp, depending on the version and specification. The vehicle is claimed to accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in approximately 2.7 seconds and deliver a WLTP-rated range of around 600 km. These are manufacturer-related international figures, not confirmed Indian-market specifications.

The Z9 GT is also known for technology such as rear-wheel steering and advanced manoeuvring functions. Its international equipment list includes multiple displays, driver-assistance features and premium interior appointments. The availability of these features in India will depend on the final model specification.

The car is expected to sit in a significantly higher price bracket than the D9. Media estimates place its potential Indian ex-showroom price between Rs 1.2 crore and Rs 1.5 crore. If launched within this range, the Z9 GT would target buyers seeking a premium electric performance car rather than a conventional family vehicle.

Expected Prices and Competition in India

The expected prices of the two Denza models suggest that BYD is targeting customers in the premium and luxury vehicle categories.

ModelVehicle typeExpected ex-showroom price
Denza D9Luxury electric MPVRs 85 lakh to Rs 90 lakh
Denza Z9 GTPerformance electric shooting brakeRs 1.2 crore to Rs 1.5 crore

These prices are estimates drawn from media reports and may change when BYD announces the official Indian line-up. Taxes, insurance, registration and optional equipment would affect the final on-road price.

The D9 is expected to compete with luxury MPVs such as the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire. The Z9 GT would offer a different proposition, combining electric performance with a distinctive body design. Its final competitors will depend on the price, equipment and availability confirmed for India.

Will Denza Cars Be Made in India?

Reports indicate that Denza’s initial Indian offerings are likely to arrive as completely built units imported from overseas. This would allow the brand to introduce its international models without immediately establishing local manufacturing for these vehicles.

However, BYD has not publicly confirmed every detail of Denza’s manufacturing and sales plans for India. The November 13 event is expected to provide more clarity about the brand’s retail approach, product availability and launch strategy.

Import duties and other costs can influence the prices of imported luxury vehicles. Local manufacturing or assembly in the future could affect pricing, but no specific timeline should be assumed without an official announcement.

What Buyers Can Expect Next

The November 13 unveiling is expected to provide a clearer picture of Denza’s plans for India. The key details to watch include the confirmed models, final ex-showroom prices, Indian-market specifications, booking dates, delivery schedules and showroom network.

The D9 could appeal to buyers looking for a spacious, technology-rich electric MPV, while the Z9 GT is likely to target customers interested in high performance and an unconventional luxury car design.

For now, the reported prices and specifications should be treated as expectations rather than final product details. BYD’s official announcement will determine how the Denza range is positioned in India’s increasingly competitive premium electric vehicle market.

Buyers will need to wait for the official announcement to learn the final price, variant details, warranty and delivery schedule.
