Under his leadership, Meta is expected to roll out several initiatives aimed at supporting small businesses, improving digital literacy, and fostering innovation through AI and augmented reality solutions tailored to the Indian market.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has announced the appointment of Arun Srinivas as its Head of India, effective July 1, 2025. Srinivas will oversee Meta’s business operations in India, focusing on scaling commercial partnerships and advancing the company’s strategic goals in one of its most important global markets.

Arun Srinivas brings with him over two decades of leadership experience in some of the world’s top companies. He has held key positions at Unilever, Uber, and most recently at Ola, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. His experience spans across marketing, business development, and strategy, making him a strong choice to lead Meta’s India business.

In his new role, Srinivas will be tasked with strengthening Meta’s relationships with advertisers, brands, and small businesses. He will also work closely with industry stakeholders and government bodies to promote digital growth and innovation. His focus will be on helping Indian businesses leverage Meta’s platforms to reach wider audiences and enhance customer engagement.

Meta India has been without a formal business head since Ajit Mohan, the previous country director, stepped down in 2022. The company has been operating with interim leadership, and Srinivas’ appointment signals a renewed focus on India’s growing digital economy. India remains one of Meta’s largest markets in terms of user base, with millions of active users across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Commenting on the appointment, Meta’s Asia-Pacific President stated, “India is a critical market for Meta, and Arun’s leadership experience across consumer and digital sectors will be instrumental in driving our next phase of growth. His understanding of the local ecosystem will help Meta empower businesses of all sizes.”

Srinivas will report directly to Meta’s regional leadership and will be based in the company’s Mumbai office. His immediate priorities include enhancing Meta’s value proposition to Indian advertisers and accelerating monetization across platforms, particularly in emerging sectors such as e-commerce, fintech, and digital content.

The appointment also comes at a time when Meta is facing increasing regulatory scrutiny and competition from domestic and international digital platforms. Srinivas’ role will be crucial in navigating this evolving landscape, aligning Meta’s business interests with India’s digital growth agenda.

Under his leadership, Meta is expected to roll out several initiatives aimed at supporting small businesses, improving digital literacy, and fostering innovation through AI and augmented reality solutions tailored to the Indian market.

In summary, Arun Srinivas’ appointment as Meta’s India Head marks a strategic move to solidify the company’s position in one of the fastest-growing digital economies. With his vast experience and deep market insights, Meta aims to build stronger partnerships, drive responsible growth, and support India’s digital transformation journey.

Commenting on the appointment, Meta’s Asia-Pacific President stated, “India is a critical market for Meta, and Arun’s leadership experience across consumer and digital sectors will be instrumental in driving our next phase of growth.
