“Retail demand during Diwali and Dhanteras could create upward momentum if global prices stabilize.” Investor Sentiment: Gold continues to be viewed as a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty.

New Delhi: Gold prices in India witnessed a slight decline on October 31, reflecting global trends and investor caution ahead of key economic data releases. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), gold fell by Rs 10 per 10 grams, while silver prices declined by Rs 100 per kilogram in major Indian cities.

In Delhi, 24-carat gold was priced at Rs 63,210 per 10 grams, while in Mumbai, the rate stood at Rs 63,060. Meanwhile, in Chennai, gold traded at Rs 63,580, and in Kolkata, it was Rs 63,100 per 10 grams. Silver, on the other hand, was priced around Rs 76,500 per kilogram across the country.

Global Market Influence:

The minor decline in precious metal prices follows mixed signals from the international market. Gold prices on the COMEX traded marginally lower as the US dollar index strengthened and bond yields rose, making non-yielding assets like gold less attractive. Spot gold hovered around $2,340 per ounce, while silver was at $27.20 per ounce.

Analysts suggest that the movement in gold prices is influenced by upcoming US Federal Reserve policy cues, inflation data, and geopolitical developments in the Middle East. The demand for safe-haven assets has fluctuated as investors balance between equity gains and concerns about global economic slowdown.

Domestic Market Outlook:

Indian gold rates are also influenced by the rupee’s performance against the US dollar and import duty costs, given that India imports a majority of its gold requirement. With the festive and wedding seasons approaching, demand for physical gold is expected to provide short-term support to prices.

“Prices may remain steady in the near term, with minor corrections depending on global economic indicators,” said an analyst from a leading bullion trading firm. “Retail demand during Diwali and Dhanteras could create upward momentum if global prices stabilize.”

Investor Sentiment:

Gold continues to be viewed as a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty. Experts recommend that long-term investors maintain moderate exposure to gold in their portfolios, given the ongoing global financial volatility.

Silver, which is used both as a precious metal and in industrial applications such as solar panels and electronics, is likely to remain volatile due to shifting industrial demand and supply constraints.

Conclusion:

While gold and silver prices have softened slightly, overall demand remains strong in India’s retail markets. Investors and consumers are closely watching international cues and domestic currency movements for further direction in the bullion market.

Silver, which is used both as a precious metal and in industrial applications such as solar panels and electronics, is likely to remain volatile due to shifting industrial demand and supply constraints.
