With the festive season approaching and a high demand for gold-driven investments and gifts, the trend of rising gold prices is expected to continue in the short term, making it an important asset for Indian investors looking for safe returns amidst volatile markets.

On January 13, 2025, the gold market in India experienced a substantial surge, continuing the upward momentum observed in the previous week. While global gold prices faced some challenges, including the strengthening U.S. dollar and ongoing uncertainty regarding global financial policies, Indian gold rates saw a significant boost due to strong domestic demand and favorable market sentiment.

The price of 24-carat gold reached an all-time high of Rs. 80,070 per 10 grams, marking a sharp rise of Rs. 430 from the previous day. Similarly, 22-carat gold prices also experienced an uptick, with rates reaching Rs. 73,400 per 10 grams, an increase of Rs. 400. The surge in gold prices was reflected across various weights, with 100 grams of 24-carat gold retailing at Rs. 8,00,700, a rise of Rs. 4,300, and 22-carat gold priced at Rs. 7,34,000 for 100 grams, marking a jump of Rs. 4,000. Additionally, 18-carat gold, a popular choice among buyers, rose to Rs. 60,060 per 10 grams, a hike of Rs. 330, with 100 grams of 18-carat gold now retailing for Rs. 6,00,600 after a significant increase of Rs. 3,300.

Despite global pressures, gold has maintained its allure as a safe-haven asset, particularly in India, where gold plays a key role in investment and cultural traditions. According to the latest report from Reuters, global gold prices remained steady following a stronger-than-expected U.S. jobs report, which provided clarity on the Federal Reserve's cautious stance toward interest rate cuts. As a result, spot gold traded at $2,689.09 per ounce, holding near the one-month high reached on Friday. U.S. gold futures saw a minor rise of 0.2%, reaching $2,719.50 per ounce. Conversely, silver prices saw a slight decline, trading at $30.36 per ounce, down by 0.1%.

This surge in gold prices in India reflects the continued attraction of gold as a reliable investment amid global uncertainties.
