Quick commerce startup Zepto has shared key insights from its 2025 platform data, revealing changing consumer behaviour and the growing reliance on instant delivery services across India. The figures highlight not only the massive scale at which quick commerce now operates but also the extreme shopping patterns emerging among users.
According to Zepto, the app was opened more than 34.6 billion times in 2025, underlining how frequently customers turn to quick commerce for everyday needs. The platform observed that some users placed as many as 16 orders in a single day, indicating a shift toward smaller, more frequent purchases rather than traditional bulk shopping.
One of the most striking insights was related to tipping behaviour. Zepto reported that a customer tipped a delivery partner Rs 54,000, reflecting a growing trend of appreciation for last-mile delivery workers. While such tips remain rare, the company said it signals evolving attitudes toward gig workers and the role they play in ultra-fast delivery ecosystems.
The scale of logistics involved was equally significant. Zepto’s delivery partners collectively travelled over 2.45 billion kilometres in 2025, demonstrating the operational intensity required to support rapid deliveries. This expansion has been driven by increased demand in urban centres, where customers prioritise speed and convenience.
Speed continues to be a key differentiator for quick commerce platforms. Zepto claimed it achieved its fastest-ever delivery in just 48 seconds, a benchmark that underscores improvements in micro-warehousing, route optimisation, and real-time order processing. Industry experts say such performance reflects fierce competition within the quick commerce sector, as companies invest heavily in infrastructure and technology.
The data also highlights broader shifts in Indian consumer behaviour. With busy lifestyles and growing digital adoption, customers increasingly rely on instant delivery for groceries, essentials, and impulse purchases. This trend has accelerated the growth of quick commerce, reshaping traditional retail and supply chains.
However, analysts caution that sustaining such speed and scale comes with challenges. High operational costs, workforce management, and profitability pressures remain key concerns for the sector. Companies like Zepto are focusing on optimising delivery density and improving unit economics to balance growth with financial sustainability.
Zepto’s 2025 data offers a snapshot of how consumer expectations are evolving in India’s fast-growing digital economy. As quick commerce platforms continue to expand, they are likely to play an increasingly central role in urban consumption patterns, redefining how Indians shop for daily essentials.
