Schools Closed in Chhattisgarh Amid Heavy Rainfall; Are Delhi and Noida Schools Open Today?
Schools in several districts of Chhattisgarh have been closed as heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds linked to Cyclone Arnab continue to affect parts of the state. Authorities have ordered precautionary closures to protect students from adverse weather conditions and disruptions to daily travel.
The weather system has brought unseasonal rainfall to central and northern Chhattisgarh, affecting normal life and raising concerns about flooding, damaged crops and power disruptions.
Meanwhile, parents and students in Delhi-NCR are checking whether schools will remain open on Friday, October 30, 2026. While no blanket weather-related school closure has been confirmed for Delhi, schools in Noida are closed for a separate reason: the UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026.
Chhattisgarh School Holiday Today: Schools Closed in Several Districts
The Chhattisgarh government has ordered schools to remain closed as a precautionary measure amid continuing rainfall and adverse weather conditions.
According to reports, the state government announced a two-day school closure, with district collectors across the five revenue divisions — Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Bastar and Surguja — issuing closure instructions.
The decision was taken after heavy rainfall and strong winds affected several parts of the state. School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav said the closure was intended to protect children from difficulties associated with travelling to school in persistent rain and from potential health risks.
The situation has been particularly concerning in areas covered by weather alerts. The India Meteorological Department issued an Orange Alert for certain districts in the Surguja, Bilaspur and Raipur divisions, while a Red Alert was reported for Raigarh and surrounding areas.
Schools and colleges in Raipur had also been closed on October 29 as the weather situation worsened.
Cyclone Arnab Brings Heavy Rain to Chhattisgarh
Cyclone Arnab has weakened into a low-pressure area, but its remnants continue to influence weather conditions in parts of central and eastern India.
In Chhattisgarh, persistent rainfall has disrupted normal activities and affected agricultural operations. Reports indicate that standing and harvested paddy crops have suffered damage in some areas, while electricity supply has also been disrupted.
The state administration has been coordinating with disaster management agencies to monitor the situation and respond to weather-related emergencies.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to assess the situation and assured the state of central assistance.
Authorities have urged residents to follow safety instructions and avoid unnecessary travel in areas experiencing intense rainfall or waterlogging.
Delhi School Holiday Today: Are Schools Closed on October 30?
For Delhi, there is no confirmed blanket school closure due to rainfall on October 30, 2026, in the reports reviewed.
Delhi-NCR is expected to experience unsettled weather, with forecasts indicating the possibility of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds. Isolated hailstorms have also been mentioned in weather advisories for parts of northern India.
However, a weather warning does not automatically mean that schools will close.
Unless the Delhi government or the Directorate of Education issues a specific closure order, schools are generally expected to follow their regular schedules. Parents should check messages from individual schools and official government announcements before sending children to school.
Noida School Holiday Today: Schools Closed Due to PET 2026
Schools in Noida, located in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar district, are closed on October 30 because of the UPSSSC Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026.
The closure is linked to examination arrangements and is not primarily a weather-related holiday.
According to reports, the examination is being conducted at 32 centres across Gautam Buddh Nagar in two shifts. The district's education authorities issued instructions declaring a holiday for schools on Friday to facilitate examination arrangements.
The closure applies to schools covered by the district order. Parents should confirm any specific instructions regarding teachers and examination-related duties with their respective school administrations.
Other Uttar Pradesh Districts Also Announce School Closures
Apart from Gautam Buddh Nagar, school closures have been reported in other Uttar Pradesh districts due to adverse weather.
In Shravasti, the administration announced a holiday for schools up to Class 8 on October 30 because of heavy rainfall warnings.
In Ballia, schools up to Class 8 were also ordered to remain closed due to the possibility of heavy rainfall and lightning.
These are district-specific decisions. The reasons for closure differ between districts, with examination arrangements affecting Noida and adverse weather prompting closures in Shravasti and Ballia.
